you could turbo an xi you would just need to mount the turbo near the rear or further back it would take more custom piping and cost more. but rear mounts are done all the time i believe a guy on here has a rear mount 530.. ok flame away

What about a top mount turbo xi?? I believe the piping would work that way.

i'm sure the piping would work.. however in order to pull this all off my welding/fabricator skills are lacking. hood fitment may be an issue, lots of things come into play with this set up. I'm unwilling to pay/ entertain the idea. However if you have more resources/time than myself i'd be more than willing to do a joint project.

Fabricating would be possible (easy) once I had welding skills.

It is definitely an idea. I wonder how my dad would feel about me trying on his 330xi??


Basically, it is make a new manifold (top-mount); new downpipe; new hot side charge pipe and that is it; new (different length) oil and water lines. Everything else would/should be the same.

The turbo intake could just be a mesh screen.

Either way we need a cheap fabricator with more certs/exp than myself Not to mention a tune that works with the boost delay (way over my pay grade i have no idea of what i'm talking about past this point.) I would assume a stand alone system at the least would be needed. I can't tune/begin to elaborate on this. The exhaust/manifold is somewhat simple the rest might as well drown me.

I'd be interested in a mod to make this work for xi's. I've done alot of work on mine and I'd almost say the xi front subframe would be in the way more than the front half-shaft. At least from looking at the install pictures. Heck, if TT lets me buy a kit minus the manifolds, I bet I could fabricate something that would work. Not that I have the money for such noble endeavors.

This kit is going on my Touring once I swap an M54B30 and a 6-speed in there...

I wonder what a built M54 could handle in terms of boost from this kit?

Wish I could afford this kit. I do think tho in future kits to include the bov. I had an HKS Super Sequential bov and that sounded amazing

Currently consulting a build on a e36 328i turbo kit . Tuning/fueling setup from Technica motorsports . I shall post numbers soon.
