yeah, heres the story on that... I had them molded smoothede and primed perfectly and i dropped them of @ the shop where my new rear bumper was being painted after being rear ended.

the idiot sanded everything down to the bare plastic, i took them back, re did my work and told them it was already sanded and primed and ready for paint, please do not sand it.

the idiot sanded it down bare again and then painted it so now im like im gonna get them re done somewhere else eventually

if u dont like the yellow u can do black afterwards, i dont think theres any going back once u do it tho lol. aircraft remover should take it off but it would b pretty messy and you'd really have 2 be careful with it.

you have no idea how many times thats happened to me. I sit there prep a piece and tell them its done, and they forget and go at it with a fuking block!!! LMAO, its already filled with filler so basically it gets ruined...LOL although my painter is on point, he notices before it goes in and calls me... but still I end up doing the sh it twice sometimes.

btw dont use spot putty to fill in, it will come off and warp immediately with expansion and contraction from the sun. Seems like you covered the whole thing. Spot putty is literally to fill in tiny little holes with no depth. Just use a good quality Everlast bondo to fill. use a block to sand the face and then go get a 90 degree aluminum bar, cut off a couple off feet of one, and line the bottom of the flat edges with stickable sand paper to do the top edge to perfection. You also did it 100% flat and it should be angled down a bit. I make a line on both and dremel the top edge then use the 90 degree to make it perfect.

just a couple tid bits

thanx but those r just 2 snap shots from the process, i had some other type of filler, i dont even remember what i used @ this point. now that its warm i will b getting them re done very soon.

here r some more, from the day i sent them 2 paint. its not top notch custom bodywork, but they were close 2 perfect. how they look now didnt happen over time, thats exactly how i got them back.

plastic cut and glued in

filling b4 sanding

primed!

temporarily spray painted

im sure that it would come pretty close 2 looking original and probably be just as refrective, but up close i'm sure it will be kind of rough.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about this since I want to black mine out but want it to be reversible. I have come up with two solutions:

1. Remove bowl, vacuum form polystyrene sheet over bowl, trim around edges and paint that black. This way it will snap on and off and be easily reversible. Downside would be that I don't know if it would warp in the hot summer sun.

2. Paint bowls black, then spray with this: http://www.dupli-color.com/products/nitelites.html

Bowl appears black until light is shined on it. Be it your own bulb or an oncoming driver.

Thoughts and suggestions?
