EVAP LDP reed switch doesn't open?

I searched forums but I only found a few posts about this particular issue... I only have one code getting thrown. It IS triggering a CEL. Peake tool says "EVAP LDP reed switch doesn't open".
What's this mean? I did just have my charcoal canister replaced - could I have a loose connection on something?
Oddly enough, this code just started happening after I did all my VANOS repair work - but the charcoal cannister was replaced months ago.
I feel like they're related, although I have no idea how they possibly could be.

Any thoughts?

LDP is related to the charcoal cylinder.

Read: http://repairpal.com/evaporative-leak-detection-pump

BMW uses the fuel vapor during startup to richen the air/fuel mix to heat up faster.

I get what the LDP system is, but I'm curious as to why the "switch doesn't open"? I just had my whole charcoal canister replaced with a new one.

Does this mean the new canister isn't working correctly?

Is the Leak-Detection *pump* actually IN the charcoal canister, or is it a separate, replaceable, part?

Haha with the CEL still on? Didn't the buyer have a problem with that?

I was upfront about it and explained the research and testing I had done on it thus far. Since the only thing I hadn't replaced was the LDP (charcoal canister), I knocked the price of that repair off the selling price of the car.

You need to change fuel breather valve (part number: 13901433603).

Im in the process of purchasing the fuel breather valve, will see if this is the culprit of the LDP issue and code 8D. I will update after replacing the valve and CEL, crossed fingers....

Im fixing to buy the fuel breather valve this week, its a very simple job, the fuel breather valve sits right behind the alternator, but you must check all your vacumes, the lines next to the tank inlet where you pump fuel, you must take the rear passenger tire off and remove the back mudguard and inspect fuel lines back their, then next to it is the LDP canister, and the LDP pump checked the hoses for cracks or looseness, if this does not work then i would go for the fuel breather valve, which is what im going to do this week, the unit is not cheap i think it varies from 80$ to a 100$ after i replace it and clear the light ill give it a few days and post the updates of the outcome, you could also do a smoke test, thats the fastes route to find the leak, the problem with this code is that two times during the cycle of the motor while the car is running the ECU will run the Leak detection diagnosis test on the car, this trys to pressurize the fuel tank, if theirs a leak the leak detection pump will continue to pump air to pressurize the system until the ECU tells it to stop, but if this continues to happen eventually it burns the pump or damages the canister, thats why if u got the money do a smok test and that way dont pay for parts that dont need replacement, good luck ill keep u guys posted on the outcome, wish me luck hehehehe....

Evap LDP swapping fuel breather valve!

This does not affects the performance of the car, at least not on mine, i can imagine this only affects the car if you have vacume leaks, but if the pump is bad or the fuel breather valve is bad the vacumes are still sealed wich after the computer runs its test, is pretty much useless, but anyways i will be replacing the fuel breather valve this week, ill be ordering it today, lets hope this fixes this damn problem, because this issue has various variants that can be causing this problem.
