Looks like you just highlighted the string and pasted. That copies the .... and all which obviously doesn't work.

I know I just PMed you but.......a couple questions .....what is the other end of the white wire hooked to??? Have you measured the voltage on the orange wire....what does it read?

also, you are playing with fire going the twist and tape route.....go down to your local auto parts store and pick yourself up a basic wire splice kit and some butt connectors, spend about $30 and re-do all your connections. That tape WILL come off and things will short out at some point in the future and then you will have another whole batch of problems.

yea ill do the tape stuff over with the splice kit. the white wire is conneced to another white wire that just goes towards my steering wheel. thats why we did that since we thought it might be something with the steering wheel controls

I am installling now. Have the fakra cable. The big plug in your pic here you have to slide out the blue pieces....they are covering the pins the fakra uses but OEM doesn't.

However right off both the Dynavin harness (which I don't use since I have to use the Fakra) and the Fakra there is a little 14 pin connector with only 4 wires/pins being used. They are red, black, yellow, and white (the white is pink on my Fakra). Where does this plug into? I can't find ANYTHING in the trunk that has this. Is this the main power connector?

You still have to somehow get a wire from the trunk to the front. I have no clue why the sys8 box connection is in the back on the Fakra. I can connect the fakra to the sys8 but the sys8 has a headphone jack looking plug and no clue where it goes to.

m3collins, you are confirming something I have suspected but didnt know for sure, you will need an extension to get the "headphone" style plug up to the front......it will then plug into the plug labled "IR IN." You may also need an antenna extension as well, but you would know that better than I would....

yea thats something i saw with the fakra too when i checked out the picture. only problem is i dont know which part of the harness i took pictures of in the trunk has to do with steering wheel control buttons. if i figure that out then i can route a cable up front from that pin.

now you are thinking! the steering wheel control pin is in fact in the trunk, I just got off the phone with M3collins, I bet he can tell you which pin it is.

yea i just talked to him too but he said he doesnt know exactly which part of the rear is harness is for steering wheel control. that part is crucial to figure out. And then i need another cable (not sure what kind) that can just extend to the front, and tap into the sy8 which can then be connected to the ir plug of the unit. just need to find out what cable to use and what pin in the back

it would just be a single wire from the sy8 white wire back to the trunk to whatever pin the steering wheel button wire is on the oem plug......m3collins mentioned it here....

you are very close to having this figured out!
