Shark Tuner found in my trunk

when i bought my car i found a shark injector in my trunk. Dinan claims "BMW already milked the DME for all it worth" and i believe them if everything is stock will i benefit from the tune. the car shifts at 6500 but if feels like i should shift sooner and it feels faster if i do. the download procedure kinda scars me to. I want to go back stock, till i get some mods what do Y'all think.

If BMW already milked it then the Shark Injector wouldn#t be such a successful and popular mod, right?

he said Dinan claimed.
theyre roughly the same, you need to find out if its dinan chipped, if it is, then call TMS and see if the shark unit is for your VIN # and ask them if there is a way to check if its already been used. if its not, and youre dinan chipped, you can sell it, if its been used, its just paper weight now.

if your car is not chipped, try sharking it.

Wait, so you found a used shark injector in your trunk and are wondering if you should take it off or not? I'm confused...

well there have been lots of mods that don't meet their claims. I'm just skeptical of retuning a stock motor. I will install an air/fuel gage this weekend and make a few runs with the software and try reinstalling the stock tune and go again.

I have software to tune my LT-1 but it says if ANYTHING interrupts the download the EPROM will have to be replaced (its soldered to the board and covered with resin) TME doesn't mention anything like that so maybe I shouldn't be worried. Curiosity killed the cat, but i have to know

Thanks snikwad I dout that it's chipped but according to TMS the shark will tell me if it its also according to TMS's dyno sheets i should shift sooner I've got to get to know this car better

Easiest way to findout if she's chipped is to see where it redlines. Dinan and shark both raise the rev limiter. If it goes pass the red on your dash, it chipped.

Both dinan and shark are good chip tuning methods and roughly equal in gains, but its safe to say the dinan is a tad more conservative.
So its either or, if you have dinan great, if you have shark great, if you have none. Get one.

My 328i redlines at I think 6800 now with the shark chip. Don't remember, lol, and I just hit it a few times today. But 200rpm short of the last # on my tach is where it cuts out.

Wtf, I just posted and I see nothing...
Oh well, yeah your diag software won't be able to see the chips, both are virtually undetectable.
Unless u have a stock fuel and ignition map to compare it to and see the changes, you won't detect a single thing out of the ordinary.

no there is no sticker and i didnt notice any serial numbers ether. but I didnt look real close I dont think there were any markings

She shifts ~500 over redline so it must have transmision software to right? The shark dosent do that.

The shark will put the engine rev limiter at 7000 RPM; if I'm not mistaken, Dinan transmission software will keep the transmission from automatically shifting up when in manual mode.
