What do you mean double plug? The plug in that goes into auxiliary fan plugs into the electric fan..so the auxiliary fan was not running was just there is What I meant.

So I'm trying to figure out how to remove the front bumper. Looking at the Bentley manual it illustrate removing a total of 6 screws. 4 of the screws are located on each end of the bumper underneath, 2 screws on left and 2 screws on right side corner. The other 2 screws located underneath the bumper front center symetry. The manual also suggest removing fog lamps and grill next to the fog lights. Is there a video on this bumper removal. I don't see any thing in the manual about any clips that has to be remove that tends to break.
Thanks in advance for any help with this bumper removal. |

This is some of the damage done by the fan blade. My Transmission Oil Cooler got destroyed. It is difficult to get the transmission's quick connect to disengage from the oil cooler. After struggling with the transmission hose with no success to get it lose, I was wondering if cutting the transmission's hose behind the quick disconnect would cause a problem. If I install the cut transmission hose onto the new oil cooler with a clamp, will it hold or will it have to much pressure and cause a major leak.
Thanks for any suggestion in advance. Last edited by DRICHFL; 08-31-2012 at 07:33 PM. |

Bumping this.
Hows everyones trannys holding up? ![]() I had a fan clutch on order, but it's been delayed. My Xi's is toast - just freewheels. Currently running my Xi with just the electric pusher. Considering just cancelling the fan clutch order and going with with the OEM electric puller swap. |

First time poster here.. I'm planning to do this swap ASAP, as my mech. fan is almost at 110k miles on my 02' 330I. I've read through the post and can't see a reason not to. On the note about the tranny getting too hot after the conversion, I live on Houston and it gets hot down here.. really hot... Has anyone removed their transmission t-stat? I know we used to leave the engine t-stat out of Big-blocks back in the day to improve water flow, as our winters here last about 3 weeks and it aided greatly in cooling. Would this same principle work on the tranny as well? Becasuse of the location of the tranny t-stat it also seems it would vastly reduce the restriction on water flow it causes in the bottom of the expansion tank.

Hey guys I wanted to have feedback from people who have done the mech fan delete , any issues with auto transmission and engine temp? I have 74 k and was thinking of doing this project instead replacing fan and clutch as I fear fan will explode on me as she ages.

No issues with my transmission at all after a year and a half and 15k miles. My coolant temp is a bit high but that's because of my thermostat. Don't debate, just do it!

Another question comes to mind, during summer time with the A/C on stopped at light is the airconditioning just as cold ??? I was wondering since front fan is out if cooling is affected.

The 5spd cars rely on just 1 Efan so I'm sure you wouldn't notice a difference as far as the ac cooling.
