Strange top problem

Hello all. So I'm having a problem with the top on my 01 325ci. I've done some research to see if anyone else has had this problem but I have found nothing. So here it goes.

So I have the constant flashing red light. I have my hard top on. The soft top is all the way down and the trunk thing is in proper position. although I jostled it a bit trying to get something in the trunk yesterday. I took the HT off to test the soft top and it does not go up or down. The light even flashes when the car is off. And the key is out. I don't think its a fuse but I'm gonna check that today. Also going to disconnect the battery and see what that does. Any ideas.

Ok so started the car this morning the light was blinking for a while then it went off as I was driving to work and has not come back on. I've started the car several times and no flashing red light. I Don't know what happened but it fixed its self. I'm gonna test the soft top when I get home just to make sure

The CVM checks certain sensors as soon as the vehicle is turned on, and the light will flash if any of those sensors return a bad value. If the vehicle is coded for the hardtop, it looks for the sensor that indicates if the hardtop is installed. If it detects the hardtop is installed, the softtop is locked out. If that sensor has failed, the light will blink to lockout usage of the softtop as well.

Likely the connector for the hardtop install kit is loose, which is resulting in the CVM thinking the sensor failed.
