SMG shifts faster and automatically rev matches on downshifts I am pretty sure.

Rev-match down shifts are kid stuff. Heel toe is next level, but still basic techniques.

oh, and before I forget. On the way to the shiping company I ligned up at a red light with a E92 M3 with a full body kit, rims, tint, ///Mfest decals... the works and a clean 80's 911. Had a 5 second conversation and would have loved to go for it. Too bad my mom was right behind me

I woulda had that 911 no problem, but the E92 would be tough. The car scene is awesome down here (duh)

the guy I bought the car from had a red E30 M3 sitting on style 5's (5 lug converted)

All e30 m3s are 5 lug from the factory, regular e30s are 4x100.

If my calculations are correct... at redline, the piston velocity of a S54B32 is actually greater than an F1 or NASCAR Cup Car

EDIT:
Nascar: Bore - 106.3mm ... Stroke - 82.55mm ... RPM - 8500 ... MPS ~23.389m/s
F1:..... Bore - 98.00mm ... Stroke - 38.70mm ... RPM - 18000 ... MPS ~23.220m/s
S54:....Bore - 87.00mm ... Stroke - 91.00mm ... RPM - 8000 ... MPS ~24.266m/s
S65:....Bore - 92.00mm ... Stroke - 75.20mm .. RPM - 8400 ... MPS ~21.056m/s (stupid E9x M3 thinks its a race car )
F20C:...Bore - 87.00mm ... Stroke - 84.00mm ... RPM - 9000 ... MPS ~25.20m/s <---Honda S2000 AP1 engine

My math came out differently. I figured the F1 at 11.61 meter per second. What did I do differently?

*edit*
Info from wikipedia..

Quote:
A 2.4 litre Formula One engine at 19,000 rpm has a 25 m/s mean piston speed (2 39.7 mm 19,000 rpm/60 s), the same value as the Honda S2000 engine (2 84 mm 8,900 rpm/60 s). This value is typically limited by increasing intake port velocities and frictional losses, but is attained by commercial vehicle engines, like the Honda S2000, BMW E46 M3's S54B32 with 24.5 m/s as far back as 2001, the Audi RS4 with 24.2 m/s or the Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle with 23 m/s.

In addition to the use of pneumatic valve springs a Formula One engine's high RPM output has been made possible due to advances in metallurgy and design allowing lighter pistons and connecting rods to withstand the accelerations necessary to attain such high speeds, also by narrowing the connecting rod ends allowing for narrower main bearings. This allows for higher RPM with less bearing-damaging heat build-up. For each stroke, the piston goes from a null speed, to almost two times the mean speed, (approx. 40 m/s) then back to zero. This will occur 4 times for each of the 4 strokes in the cycle. Maximum piston acceleration occurs at TDC and is in the region of 95,000 m/s2, about 10,000 times standard gravity or 10,000 g.

Update

How many of you guys have a sun roof..........................not this guy.

Covering the roof with black vinyl tomorrow. I'm not 100% sure how it's gonna turn out (if you will be able to see it or not), but it will get the job done.

Freshly painted alpine white floor with all the sound deadening and unwanted wires removed.

To go with my freshly painted roll bar.

Which will go perfectly with my new color matched alpine white Sparcos.

Everything goes back in tomorrow and then she's off the paint to get the front bumper finished up.

Multiply by 2

The pistong travels along the stroke of its cycle twice during one rotation of the crank.

When I get a welded in cage in the future I will do something crazy like that. The black vinyl is going on the roof tomorrow.
