Hey brad, while you're at it you should get cams. Oh, and a stroker kit, ya know, cause you'll be in there and all. A lift would be nice to have.

I wouldnt go with a lift kit, but thats just me.

Well for those that haven't heard I pulled the valve cover off today to do a valve adjustment and found that one of the tabs on my exhaust side vanos hub had sheared off and then I dropped the sheared piece into the oil pan.

So now I have to replace the hub and pull the pan to find the piece. No track days for me for a while.

I tried with a magnet down the timing case and up through the oil drain plug. You working Wednesday Ruben, you're more than welcome to come help.

So I take it that the tab that broke off should be magnetic? I wasnt sure if it was aluminium or not.

Yes it is magnetic. I've spent about 2 hours trying to find the piece. I'm just going to pull the pan. Hopefully it's in there, cause if I can't find it in the pan I'm gonna go real crazy.

Well I just ordered a bunch of parts, mainly all the gaskets/bolts I will need for the repair. Now I just have to determine which hub I'm gonna buy and bite the bullet.

VANOS delete?

I took today off to work on my car! Kinda funny. I also need to drop my pan, gd gasket is leaking!

I think an airplane might be my next vehicle :O

If i hadnt just spent a ton of money on the car i would do a crazy motor build but because my budget is running low I will he doing the minimum to get if fixed correctly and back on the road. I'm hoping to be back on track at the May touring club.

I'm just pissed that I'm gonna miss out on the whole driving coach thing. That was really an opportunity to take my driving skill one step further and give me an edge.

Borrow a car? Kinda a weird thing to do.

I was thinking about you doing a vanos delete, but just a new hub would be more quick and cost effective.

I'm gonna do an intro flight in the next week or so and see if it even interests me.

I can be in an ultra light, with no license for like 15-20k easy, and fly it around all I want down in Arkansas(we have a big enough piece of land to land it on), with very minimal maintenance costs. 110mph flying around with no regulations or laws to follow(just stay under a certain alt, and avoid big cities and airports)? Sounds good to me!


I imagine my costs wouldnt be any worse than Brads dedication to the car hobby/sport, with similiar maintenance costs once I reach sport pilot level.
