Well he only wants 11k for the car, so I'm sure you could manage a crazy car for under 20k.

Not sure on Jeff. I'm with you on that thread, for a racing accident that really is minimal damage. Most racing incidents are normally total write offs or have substantial frame damage that has to be prepared.

So.. I got a new "plan" I have been approved for the loan I want to take out on a new DD. Thing is though... I can take out as much as the NADA value is of the car.

Example...

If NADA value of a car is $24000, and I find that car for say $19000... They will write two checks one for the PO of the car and the other $5000 check in my name. Thus... ESS550 kit right around the corner

Just FYI, the bank is only going to loan you the amount listed on the purchase order/bill of sale. Also, they won't likely write two checks and one to you.

If you get passed that hurdle, it is possible to have the seller list the car as being $24k and him accepting $19k, however at that point you're going to be paying sales tax on a $24k sale, then keeping $5k of it and paying sales tax on an ESS kit. That's doubling up tax on that same $5k.

I'd try to rethink that strategy personally.

Another bad point is that if you have to dump the car, you may not get the same amount that you owe for it. Negative equity is a bad thing.

Nope already thought of all those.... and YES they will write two checks. As long as I can sell the car for what I owe on it Im fine. They will have the PO so its more like an umbrella loan with two seperate checks wrote. At 1.49% which is damn good.. im not to worried.

The second you get a loan to buy a $19k car for $24k, you're going to be flopped $5k on that loan, if not more.

And if you could sell it for $24k, then I'm sure the PO would have it listed for $24k.

Although I will admit, if you're going to finance an ESS kit, 1.49% interest is not a bad way to do it. Just don't kid yourself in thinking that you won't be flopped.

What exactly do you mean by being "flopped"?? Im only saying the NADA value of a car could be 24k. No difference than looking at a car on the forums that is for sale for say 20k when the kbb could say its 22k (all numbers just examples). More less just need to find a "great" deal.

They were 19" VMR V710's

I wouldn't supercharge a non-m. Especially not your DD.

The SC wouldnt be for my DD. I would buy a DD (wagon) and with the money left over I would SC the M3.

The M3 has been paid off for some time now.. so I figure even if I get a 48/60 month loan on a DD I can pay it off in ~24/36 months. So might as well get everything now since Im going to be basically ripping apart the M3 this winter anyways...

...(coughcough this is when Brad jumps in and says he will be over to help me rip apart and help me put her back together maining just all the engine/vanos crap )

Sneaky

Yeah if you're going FI then you'll need all of those bushings and the sub frame reinforcements, no question about it

I'll be home from the 21st of December through the 1st of January. I've always wanted to install a SC'r.

My payment will be driving the car though, which will be the same as you having to buy new tires.

That would be a hell of a payment. But I dont think I will have everything by then... More less just all the preventative crap... and the checking of the VANOs...

Hey guys! I know I haven't been on in quite awhile but I got a couple questions. So recently my car has sounded a bit bogged down at startup and not very smooth at all. Once I get going its not too bad. Also, sometimes when I start going there is a tapit noise for about 50-100 feet and then goes away. I have also noticed that my cats or somewhere around my cats is rattling at idle, but when I rev it it goes away (I have freeflow headers into schmeidmann cats). I know I have scraped them a couple times but they don't look dented at all, only a tiny bit scratched. Any ideas at all would be very helpful. Thanks!

I would say ~2 years, but only about ~6k miles. I would like to check just about everything while I have it all open. VANOs + Filter + Valves... Etc.

Flopped means owing more than it's worth.

Example: The car you buy has a NADA retail value of $24k. The second you drive it off the lot, it's only going to be worth NADA trade in value, probably at around $5k less. So you have a loan for $24k and a car you could realistically unload for $19k. You're flopped $5k.

Now if you get a GREAT deal, then you might be able to offset that, like have a $19k loan for a car that books at $24k retail, but the second you take the additional equity, you're flopped again.
