i bought some 19 vmr v715s with tires and they ride pretty nice. I don't feel much different in ride quality. But i guess i also don't care about mpg or performance...(all looks) ... they roads here in Phoenix are soo nice so that why maybe... I will be going to 18 when i move to cali as the roads there suck

You can ALSO get 19"s that are lighter than 17", you just have to open your wallet REALLY wide! Most on this forum are not big fans of putting on rims that exceed the KBB value of their car.

I'm looking to maintain\take as much advantage of stock performance and a nice stance (maybe what I'm saying is 19's by heart but 18's by logic. Man! another crossroads.. decisions, decisions decisions....

So much input and pasion. Hope this is therapeutic also....

Maybe there are more 19s for sale because more people initially bought 19s

Go with 19s

I'm on my 6th set of 19" wheels.

I've had 2 sets of ///M6 reps, AC Schnitzer Type 5 reps, DPE LS-5's, BBS RS-GT's (I love these wheels), and now I just ordered some Linea Corse Wheels.

I got the Linea Corse's because I'm having my BBS's Refinished.

I think the #1 reason to not go with 19's is the cost of tires. E46s eat tires, coupes especially. I just can't imagine getting 30k miles from a pair of rear tires unless I go square and rotate/flip. Then you have fewer tire choices.

My personal taste, 18's look big enough. No need to go with 19's.

I can attest to the above. Nothing worse than dropping 1000 bucks for a set of four new tires..

i got 19" Hartge Classic's on mine 330xi and love it. a little firmer but i'm not complaining. only one complaining is my g/f because she has a z4 3.0si and wants something smooth.

Balance baby, balance ...

I have a ZHP and I am switching to lightweight 18s after my quest for decent looking lightweight and affordable 17X8.5 ran dry.

Weight and tire cost at a given performance level are key for me.

In my mind $3k lightweight wheels wrapped in cheap rubber does not make sense. I track about 6 times a year and cannot justify 2 sets of summers on top of my winters.

18 inch rubber is getting more realistically priced in popular sizes so my argument is fading. 19 inch rubber from a "good family" is still for those with stronger hearts and wallets than mine.

That looks spectacular. But you have an M3. The fender flares help bring out the beauty of the 19's. On a sedan, they wouldn't look that good. I like 18 better. Love those wheels. (I just bought some stock 17 style 68's today) I am going for the boring look. Not sure I want to ride around on 35 series tires on our roads.

If your even thinking about getting 19" then get 19". Don't settle for 18" or you'll just be looking for a new set that much sooner imo. I wouldn't get 18" for the reason their lighter or better performance because lets face it, if your just daily driving and going for looks there's no advantage. If your serious about performance then you'd be looking at light 17" wheel. I don't think there's a big comfort difference with the size either, that's more in the tire. True 18" tires will give a bigger, cheaper selection, but if the price of tires is a concern then maybe your not ready to get a set of wheels because if your going to get a set for around 1K, expect to spend more on tires then the rims, at least that was the case with mine, but I splurged on a good set and have seen very little wear for the 10K that the summer Z rated tires have seen. My 2 cents.

I just got these 19's wrapped in yoko tires. I only went with this size due to I like the 19 staggered look!

I do not race my e46.

true, it's a matter of personal preference i'd say and yes tires are $$ but worth it for me. i ran 19s on my non-m 325ci as well and on my clk500, (it was a must for the clk500 since it had a bigger body) but after running 19s 18s just look tiny now i can't go down to 18s and have to shell out $ for the 19s tires lol

I dont notice much of a change in ride quality going to 19s and I live in MI are roads suck. I choose to leave them on even know they havnt started filling the pot holes in.

If i get 19"s that are lighter than my 18's oem style 32,
with 235/40/19 , now i have staggered setup with 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 tyres

performance will be the same?
