Kenwood....I am an Alpine Fan , but if the buttons were not green and orange I'd pick it. Kenwood is pretty pimp deck though.

I am also an Apine fan, but I would look into the new Kenwood 915 coming out in a few months. It will have built in DTS/DD and do DVD-Audio

Check the pixels. You'll find that while the competition's pixel level tops out at about 336,960, while the Alpine's IVA-D900 (The same thing I'm installing this summer, and believe me: I've done my homework) will have over 1.15 MILLION pixels. (For research purposes, pixels are sometimes referred to as picture elements) Therefore, if you're going for top quality, the IVA-D900 will have 3x the picuture clarity! Oh, and so you know, you if you do go with the Alpine, it has a plug for your future Nav. I'd recommend the matching NVE-N852A system from Alpine, but if you're a Pioneer junkie or something, then indulge. =)

Here's my opinion, when veiwing the Alpine and the Clarion side by side the on axis veiwing area where quite comparable but the Clarion unit blew the Alpine unit out of the water when viewing off axis and this means a lot in a car.

Out of those, i like the clarion's touch screen capability but the alpine screen has the clarity, if i were you i would look into the kenwood kvt-915 its coming out real soon and is suppose to be unbelievable

Buddahman, Alpine is actually supposed to have the widest tested off-angle viewing clarity out of the top of the line models. To tell the truth though, I've never seen the Clarion in person, so I'll take your word.

Bennyman: Would you like to post where you found those test results? I think it would be interesting reading. Since you have never seen the Clarion unit you might want to view one and then tell us what you think.

Buddah, you can check the pixels individually at the company websites. As for the Alpine's IVA-D900, this press release gives pretty ample information:
http://12.145.140.137/html/press/010903_iva-d900.html P.S. I haven't actually bought the iva-d900, but I plan to when I make enough cash this summer, but I plan to see EVERY competative unit before I buy. If you know a lot about top of the line I.C.E. products and installation, then go to my threat and help me out. It's in I.C.E. forum under "I'd Like I.C.E. Advice Please." |
