how much should replacing my thermostat cost?

how much should replacing my thermostat cost? i was quoted $275.00. Is this too much? please let me know guys. thanks in advance.

shop around where you live/work. Best way to get an idea.

In the SF Bay area, shop rates are $100 to $110 hr.

I did DIY it was so easy. $275 is quite high for that price I can replaced the upper and lower hoses and water pump. Thermostat is about $45. So $230 labor is up to you.

DIY man, its stupid easy to do it, believe me, use the diy with pictures and your set, dont waste $200!!

My mechanic charged me a total of $185 (includes tax, labor, parts, plus he changed the coolant), so $100 more is kinda crappy... of course, the dealership wanted $567 (or thereabouts), but that's another story...

$64.68 at Tischer (www.getbmwparts.com). It's about $3 more at Bavauto.
