I own a bmw jet black 325i and, I recently purchased a bumper (silver) and want to sand paint and clear coat it myself. I am going to order the supplies from automotivetouchup.com. I figure the jet black will be matched perfectly. Any tips or suggestions. I have heard of rubberized primers to prevent paint cracking. Do they work?

![]() take it to a body shop. Spray paint will not even come close to looking decent.

It's definitely doable, just take your time, wet sand with really fine grit sand paper and +1 on the spray gun

ok
I wouldn't be surprised if you need to use a flex-agent in primer as well as paint & clearcoat.

Actually to the contrary, automotivetouchup.com makes great dealer replica paints.
Make sure to get it in the arousal can. I used this on a specific Red Perl on an Acura, and it was dead on a match. Now of course new paint does not perfectly match old paint becuase well, its old. The paint has faded a tiny bit, and the clear coat will look different. So it will be like 2% different looking than the rest of the car. Will it be noticable from 10 feet, probably not. If your cheap and just want to get it done for under hundreds of dollars, this will work, but it will not look 100%. Post pics when your done.

I usually don't get aroused by paint until it's on the car.

I can't imagine paint in an arousal can having anything close to auto paint quality
