I think this thread should be renamed to something like: Instrument Cluster conversions (pics)

I have got my old cluster out and started looking at ideas for what I can do. Going to do some copping and modding over the coming weeks when I have some spare time. I like the idea of the little display down there, pretty sweet....

The LEDs you want are PLCC-2 for the cluster.

How about placing an electro-luminescent panel behind the cluster face?
I found these here which can be cut to size and fed off a 12v feed via a switch or cabin lighting. Cut it to size behind the gauge face and it would be a perfectly even lighting source and you could go right up to the middle of the needles to illuminate them or cut it out further back so it doesn't.

I'm thinking of buying a set and putting them on my old cluster to see what they look like. I have measured up and if I get two sets I can make a perfect outline for the whole cluster face. I will have to get some black cover material to go behind to block out the LED's. This means the whole cluster would be one colour though unless i cut it short of the needles and somehow put extra LED's in for the needles. I'm thinking blue.....
