Side Mirrors
I've been having something weird growing within my side mirrors. The thing is, I can't even wipe/scrub this off the mirrors....it's as if, it's happening behind the glass yet protruding through. Very weird.
I've attached some pictures for everyone's reference. Anyone know how to clean this up? Thanks in advance guys. |

This happened to one of my side mirrors once. Water creeps up between the glass and the metal part of the mirror, which rusts. Once it starts, you can't stop it. My spot was far worse and NYS told me it wouldn't pass inspection. Find one from a donor and change it out.

I would check classifieds here or on bimmerforums first
then I would shop at www.ecstuning.com or www.getbmwparts.com good luck!

I've got the same problem. I've got heated mirrors, but I see at Autozone I can just get the replacement glass for under $20 + cost of adhesive. They only list the passenger side though, not sure if I can get the driver side as well (which is also bad in my case).

I managed to get my old mirror off by separating it from the heating element with a small putty knife. The brown stains are where the glass has separated from the metal behind it. I was able to work the knife between the two and not touch the element too much. I got some 3m water/heat resistant adhesive that I'm going to use to attach it to the frame. I'll post pics when it's done later tonight. Still need to find a driver's side mirror... |
