My Ride: 2012 Genesis 5.0
Hyundai Genesis?

Any love for the genesis out there? I haven't been on e46 for a while because i've been having good luck with my wife's BMW lol. I have been through a few cars lately including the 2006 325i with the newer body style, I gave that to my wife and bought a 2011 Lexus IS250, traded the lexus in and bought a fully loaded 2012 Genesis Sedan with the 5.0l V8 and I must say i'm impressed. This car is so fast and smooth and quiet. I just bought it and took it on a road trip to FL from TX to visit family and it was a wonderful ride the whole time. Anyone else out there own a genesis?

We had a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 loaner back in January, and I was REALLY impressed with it. The car is ridiculously powerful, the infotainment system is one of the best I've used, and I really hated giving it back. On the flip side, the styling of the 2015 is pretty bland, and the price of our loaded tester was nearly $56K!

We just had a Kia K900 for the past 2 weeks, and I'd take the Genesis over it all day long. And you save $10K to boot..

From what I hear, they are great but wear very quickly. Squeeks, rattles, rub marks, etc appear much faster than the big name luxury brands. The engine is indeed awesome. It does have a ton of tech, but for the money, today, I'd probably get the new 300C. Nice v8, marshmallow comfort ride, the best infotainment in the business, looks pretty cool, seats 4 in comfort, huge trunk, and reasonably priced....just my .02 Plus, you can say you're walter white.

A few of my friends own them, well actually two. It looks okay. A little small inside for my pref. I would like to see if they can last over 100k.

On a side note, there are rumors the next-gen Genesis Coupe will be getting a twin turbo V6.

Test drove a '14 sedan 5.0 R-spec. It was the most "meh" car I've ever driven. A camry would have been more satisfying because it's an econo car, and it owns up to being an econo car. The genesis is a "meh" of an econo car, but it tries to sell itself as this powerful sporty sedan.

The interior was boring, the options were a year or two behind the competition, and the engine, for claiming 400-ish hp, was dreadfully anemic.

I hear the '15 is supposed to be a lot better, but I heard a ton of hype about the '14 and earlier as well.

Although, I guess coming from an older IS250, just about anything will feel fast.

Lol, it does feel pretty quick. The is250 was the slowest thing i've ever driven.. what a drag.

I really wanted to like the genesis, but it just didn't do anything for me.

Glad you're enjoying it, though.

The '15 is a HUGE upgrade from the '14 as far as interior quality, fit and finish goes. As I said, I think the styling is a little bland, but time will tell if that bet will pay off for them.

I hear the V6 is plenty capable as well, and considering you can get in one of those for under $40K, that's a pretty attractive option for some.

You guys are acting like the coupe and sedan are the same car. Comparing the 3,000lb IS250 to he 4,000lb Genesis sedan? Seriously? And constantly interchanging which model you're talking about and which engine you're talking about.

The sedan is the size and weight of a 7-series and it performs as a 2-ton automatic luxo-cruiser should perform.

The coupe is a 3,000lb sports car. Decide which one you're talking about.

The sedan may be within a couple inches of a 7 series in length, but it's about a decade behind a 7er in tech and comfort.

As far as performing as a luxury cruiser should? No, it doesn't.
