I'm about to start in on my car. Check out all the sweet tools I've got now. My starter motor is a little finicky so I'm probably gonna replace that too as long as I've got the intake manifold off, the heater core hose too. Anything else you guys can think of that I should swap as long as I'm going to the trouble?

I sold my subs/amp to my friend and I was trying to help him out. but we are having a hard time getting the amp to turn on. The equipment is all good because,
His amp works in some one elses car and thier amp works in my friends honda, but his amp wont work in his car.

What we are trying to wire:

Rockford Fosgate Punch 801x Amp - 2400watt 4 channel
Rockford Fosgate Punch Subs - Dual 13"

I used to install car stereo in college, I can help you out if you like. I still have all the tools.

Your amp turn-on problem is probably because the BMW accessory turn-on wire does not have enough juice to make your aftermarket amps turn on (assuming you are using the BMW head unit and factory turn-on wire). The voltage will be there so it will test out ok, but you will have amp turn-on problems. It can be fixed by wiring a relay or transistor.

Also I have a black M3 in Maple Grove...for those of us who may have seen each other.

M3 is an E46.

Don’t know what to say about the amp...I’d recommend troubleshooting by testing to eliminate potential causes. Check for voltage on the B+ and turn-on terminals. You can try running a jumper from the B+ to the turn-on and see if this kicks the amp on – if it does you might have a problem somewhere in the turn-on line. Make sure the ground is good - sometimes an amp can ground through the chassis so if the ground is bad, that might explain why one amp would turn on and another wouldn’t. Make sure the subs are wired to put a proper load on the amp.

I can help troubleshoot sometime if you can bring the car to my place.
