You get that Ellsworth yet?

The Sultan is the best investment I've ever made. I don't think I'll ever buy anything other than a Turner again. And even then, I don't know how the Sultan could get any better...

Here's the first of many videos riding the Sultan. I picked up a Canon T1i, so some HD videos will be made soon...

^ Sweet! The Ellsworth will be here in 2 weeks. I have all the parts ready and the frame is the only thing missing. I can't wait. After this my next project will definitely be a 29er.

I went with a Thule, they have a specific system designed just for e46s....Yakima has a system that will work just fine as well, but I like the idea of an integrated system

I think I posted a picture earlier in this thread

I have a thule, works great. You can pick up most of the parts at your LBS or REI/EMS.

I managed to put together the BMW OE rack (used) for under $300. Bought the base parts a few years ago, and the bike rails last summer.

Check the classifieds.

I picked up bike carriers off CL for cheap, I only paid retail for the towers since it is hard to find them used. I think the total setup cost me $350

on ebay there are different lengths

51"

56"

43"

also i dont know if they will all strap down to the OEM base system securely. some of the yakima trays look like they will only work with yakima racks and same goes for some thule bike trays i see.

oh I see, I didn't even know that mattered...the only important measurement when I was shopping was the width of the load bars

Since I bought mine from a lady with a Sentra I didn't even bother to measure the length

I would guess the longer ones (53") are probably for SUVs etc

I can measure mine for you when I get home tonight.....I have the XTR Big Mouth bike carrier

My Thule trays are 516 Prologue. They are 52" long, including the plastic nose piece.

I actually have a moped, but you have to obey traffic lights, one way streets, etc. In Ontario, you have to be licensed to ride a moped and have insurance. The thing is kinda loud too. I think the electric bike is more my style. Here's my moped.
