i called the closest niner dealer. 2 hours away, they only sell frame, so everything has to be added, mucho dinero.


And i really don't feel like going 2 hours away.

My budget is now 2000$ cuz i want a bike right the FUOOCCCKKK NAOOOO!!!


There is a sick Specialized i saw in the store,


2300$ but it's sooooo nice

i found 1 gary fisher Cobia yesterday but in a 17.5 inch frame

k, another store just called me. They can get me the following within a week, 1 left of each.

Specialized Rock hopper comp SL 1900$

Or the Rock Hopper Comp 1000$

I have called every shop within driving range 1hr from my house

There is nothing under 1500$ available anywhere, no one stocks them, or they are all sold out.

the specialized stump jumper comp 29 is 2200$ which i like a lot, but price range is iffy.

i found stores with rocky mountains available but i donno something about that brand screams walmart to me, no offense to anyone but it's cuz i see their lower end bikes everywhere so hasn't instilled confidence in me, although research says otherwise and they are legit, but if i'm spending 1000-2500$ i want to feel good about it.

They have norcos available, but i don't really like the look, and not sure about the brand.

Marin bikes? and Opus bikes also?

any input appreciated.

Stump Jumper is a solid bike, buddy has one in his family's arsenal of about 15 bikes, may not need one that decked out though, pretty decent all arounder, and for that price range I wouldn't even bother with a fixed tail.

i'm going to do a lot of road also on the way to the trails, so FS is not for me i think at this point, i agree 2200$ is getting up there on a hardtail.

but these are my wants
29er
hydraulic disk brakes
somewhat decent color
not very picky.

but nothing is available.

Was this your first bike your getting? I dunno why you wanna spend that much on a hardtail

ya first bike.

i started with 1200$ budget, then nothing available, then i moved on to 1700$, same story, 2200$ gets me a bike next week, but i still will wait and do more research.

I'm kinda categorizing this as my "graduation" present to myself, so i figure there is a good enough reason to splurge slightly

Yeah i got the windsor cliff 4900. Nah only 20 miles so far. and doing 20 miles tomorrow

My bike is only $400 and i like it. I also got a $2,000 hard tail in denmark and actually feel better on this one. I dunno if i would spend 2,000 on my first bike, kind of risky, what if you are one of those people who only find it entertaining for 1 month? would suck to have spend all that. You cant find anything on craigslist or something (if you got craigslist)

i checked out your windsor brand, they have nice 29er, then i checked bikes direct and lost my $hit, man the bikes are so much cheaper there, i can't believe they don't ship to Canada, anyone know if those bikes need full assembly? or just require pedals and that's it?

they have a sick titanium motobecane for the same price "retail" as the windsors and the gary fishers i'm looking at

i doubt i won't ride, it's in me, my dad rides 200 km's a week with his friends. i have plenty of time in the morning to get a ride in. I don't want used, i like to buy new.

can't wait till my ass gets on one.

I didnt even see mine unpacked. i was gonna put it together my self but the pricedifference from the multitool and having the shop put it together and do a tune up was $10 lol. And either way i had to get a tune up afterward. I paid $40 for it all together.

ara you have $2000 just buy a used bike! I bought mine used for $2800 which was $4500 new. You can get a much nicer bike for a lot less!

Oh and I just got back from a ride with about 7 friends, it was sweeeeet cause I didn't crash haha.

I was about to crash yesterday already lol. I actually hit the girl. I was comming with like 8 miles per hour in a park, and this idiot girl on rollerblades was looking at her ipod instead of her road so she rolled right into me.

lol that sucks man... don't you hate when it's someone else's fault? I was coming down a trail once and these hikers didn't step out of the way (yeah I know they have the right of way, screw it ) and I wiped out right in front of them to avoid them. So much shame.

Check out PINKBIKE.COM for used bikes you will find some good deals. Stick with SPECIALIZED I have 3 bikes from them PITCH,BIGHIT & STUMPJUMPER FSR They are all great bikes and I have been riding Specialized for over 10yrs spend the x-tra $$$...

Rocky mountain and Norco are canadian brands. I would guess they would be in abundance there since you are in Canada.
