I blacked mine out a couple weeks back. Also painted the inside of the headlight housing matching black. It looks ill with my halos on during dusk. Pics up in a moment.

Does anyone know if the headlight bowls are similar for the e36 and e46? I know the headlights are obviously different, but was curious as to whether the bowls were the same.

So I went by Michaels today on my way home and tried to find a can of this glass paint stuff, but I couldn't find it. The closest thing I found was metallic paint, but I didn't want to buy that if it isn't going to work.

Anyone know any other high quality paints that can be used for this purpose? I may just order a can of this from Amazon or something otherwise.

does any place sell the bowls seperately? i'd rather do the bowls first, and then put them in my headlamps.

for those of you wondering if you can do this with the glass stain that is available in bottles (I also cant get any spray strain here in south africa), you most certainly can. You do not get any brush strokes, and the finish is even.

here is a pic of a scrap e36 reflector that I did a test on first, will post pics of my e46 reflectors later. the runs that you can see here are because I didnt car/take my time, etc. putting effort in results in a much better finish, as on my e46
