God dammit, got a nasty door ding on the driver's side today. I always take care to park far away, or in a spot that a car can only park on one side of me.....I parallel park it at CU and someone must've opened the door on their passenger side getting out on the street as someone in the driver's seat was dropping them off. Scraped the paint and left a ding in the metal...sometimes I wish I had a impact-sensitive camera for things like this. It's like no one who doesn't have a nice car gives a $h!t about other people's property. Let me guess, to un-ding the metal a paint shop would have to take off all the door card stuff to bend it back from the other side?

Sorry to hear about the door ding, I've gotten a few parking downtown

If the metal is creased then they would have to sand the door down, press the dent and then use a glazing putty to make it flush again. If the dent is just a divet without a metal bend then a painless dent remover may do the trick or you may be able to get it out with dry ice, be careful with the ice though. Depending on the scratch depth, if it went to metal, primer, or just through the clear there are a few things you can do. Rubbing compound, then polishing compound, finished with a good wax will most likely take the minor scratches out. Hope that helps.

FCBuff post up some photos
