All the parts arrived today. I ordered the OEM parts from TheBMWPartStore.com and communicated with Mike what we were doing. I noticed the parts took a couple days to get out, so I sent Mike an email to see if we were going to have problems. He also had noticed they were late to ship so he upgraded the shipping to Express and got them here overnight to make sure we were good to go. He did this on his own. Big shout out to Mike at TheBMWPartStore.com

Speaking of shout outs, it looks like we have three volunteers joining us just to help on Sunday. Thank you all in advance for this.

Here it a final list of who is getting what and the balance.
da Vinci - Vanos seals, Rattle repair, All OE parts from the list, Solenoid pistons $219
MajorDisarray - Vanos seals, Rattle repair, All OE parts from the list $175
tri - Vanos seals $50
325adam - Vanos seals, Rattle repair $100
Brandond11 - Rattle repair $50

Guys, if you're free this Sat morning, come to Great Indoors Park Meadows meet, looks like it will be a pretty good turnout.

From around 9:30 am and up.

Reminder for Vanos rebuild group. Bring some of your engine oil because you will loose some when you take the Vanos off.

If anyone is going to be at the dealer on Saturday, can you pick up a couple extra Vanos bolts, part# 11-36-1-748-745
I did not get any and it was recommended in case we break one.

It might be wise to have a backup plan in case you break something and can not drive the car with a replacement part. The dealer will not be open on Sunday.

They have the bolts in Murray. I got them thursday though. Didn't check the forum before I went there.
In case you break them I am sure someone can give you theirs if they don't break theirs.

It was good meeting y'all at the VANOS repair today. I learned a lot from the team. Congrats to Major Disarray for being the first to finish & bail. I hope the rest of you finished successfully. I'm interested to hear everyone's results.

I was hoping no one would notice. I did feel bad for leaving so quick but I left the wife at home with two little monsters. Next time I will bring the oldest and be able to stay longer. He loves cars so anything but waiting for dad to finish up the car is fun for him. He would love meet and drive....

A big thanks to da Vinci for getting the whole thing rolling quickly.

Thank you to all the volunteers, it was helpful and appreciated.

Here is most of the double Vanos R&R reduced to 36 seconds.

Thank you Da Vinci for hosting the DIY and thank you all for helping me/us out.
Without your help I would have taken 2 days to do the same job and I would have stripped at least a dozen bolts.

Result: The car is much responsive in the lower rpms and the initial lag in the throttle is almost nil. Waiting to see how it affects the mpg now.

I really appreciate all the help as well. Too bad I was the last one I spent about an hour and half at home cleaning up all the oil out of the engine.

I havent noticed any changes yet but I havent been able to get on it.

I didn't notice a difference when I changed mine either, but one less thing to worry about I suppose.

Garrett, great job at the NASA races.

We had a Vanos/anti-rattle repair party at my shop. Everyone did their own, plus we had the help of three great volunteers. When I introduced myself a few pages back, someone invited me to the party so I jumped in with both feet. I am not one to wait around for stuff to happen.
