Do you guys know anyone/any shop here that will be willing to cut/drill/dremel/weld a screw/stud.

I broke the stud that holds the fuel filter in place. The one that protrudes from the car underbody which holds the fuel filter with a 10mm nut holds it in place.

I dont know whether the stud can be taken out and put a new one in or may be weld another stud at the same place.

Also need to remove the stripped DISA bolt. I tried dremel on it with no good results.

Do you guys know anyone who can do this job???

Just want to get those two bolts taken care of so I can do the fuel filter, CCV and OFHG before it gets too cold to work on the car.

S&P headers for an LS1 swapped Porsche 944

Love it. Looks really clean too.

@trj: The 1-series will eventually become FWD due to CAFE regulations I believe. I need to do some research on that, but no way will I ever buy another FWD car.

OK, I just looked, the X1 is still RWD. Probably a great size for a city car.

I was considering one. Basically a 3 series station wagon. But not if they switch to FWD.

The X1 is nice. I also have an 03 325xi Wagon. The wheelbase and width of the X1 are almost identical to the E46, the X1 is about 6 inches taller though. Since my wagon is paid off, it is tough to go back to payments..

X1 is definitely in my list, specially I am looking for a city AWD car for my girl. I dont want her to drive RWD in snow. Just dont want to jump into payments if I can find e46 xi or a 4 motion passat.
And probably in a year or two sell it and buy a new car. First priority is buying a house, so new car can wait.

Hey Guys...for all of you in Colorado, what engine oil do you use? Just wondering as I have run into problems using Mobil 1 5w-30 (burning too much oil in between change intervals) and will either switch to back to the recommended Castrol or try Mobil 1 0w-40. Though, I am not sure about using an 0w oil year round here. Any suggestions?

Nice car bmwchubbs. So clean.

Brandon, how have you been man? We got to do the bushings, lol.

DenverSooner, Mobil 1 5w30 is not BMW LL-01 approved. I try to stick with recommended oil.
I just switched to castrol edge 0w30(german castrol) from Mobil 1 0w40. I was(am) burning/leaking a lot of oil too. Thanks to the faulty CCV and leaking OFHG, I loose almost a quart in every 1000 miles. Not been able to change them because of the stupid DISA bolt being stripped. May be you have a leak as well, and if the CCV is not working properly, you will loose oil. Just like me
If you plan on doing CCV and OFHG, hit me up. I want to do it with someone beside me so I dont mess up. lol.

Castrol edge was $27.99 for 5 quarts from pep boys last month, so I went that way. 0 weight and 5 weight wont make much of a difference in CO anyway. I'd say run 0w30 castrol edge in winter, and BMW 5w30 in summer. But I run 0 weight oil all year round. Still loose the same amount.

Schomp BMW sent me a flyer for $80 oil change, next oil change I am just taking it there. It costs around $70 anyway if you DIY, for $10 more I'd rather let them do it, may be drive a new loaner too. lol.

CCV, OFHG, VCG all replaced in the past 9 months and are working fine. No leaks anywhere. My assumption is that I am burning oil due to using Mobil 5w-30...another member had the same issue and after using spec oil (ie Castrol 05-30) his problem went away. I'm going to switch back to Castrol and see if I still have the same issue. I can help with the CCV/OFHG when you are ready, if you need.
