I'm thinking about selling my pristine M3 convertible garage queen and getting a 135i convertible daily driver. I'd use my current DD - 2004 4Runner whenever the snow gets nasty. Reasons: I want to drive a car daily, and I just don't think the M3 is a great daily driver/family car. Also, I can't imagine the SMG repair bills will be cheap if/when they come.
Thoughts? Am I high? |

Yes, you're high. Why would you sell a pristing M3 convertible for another convertible? I could see selling it to get a car more suitable for daily driving, like a sedan, SUV, something with a hard top.
Why do you think you'll daily drive the 135 convertible when you're not doing it now, with a car that's basically the same? The M3 is exactly the same kind of car, it's a convertible, it's rear wheel drive, it has a small back seat and trunk as the 135 convertible, nothing changes there. If you have the itch for a new car and want to scratch it, go for it! Logically what you're saying makes no sense though.

First, thanks for the opinion. I asked for it I got it. I think the main difference I'm looking for is M vs. Non-M. Sure who doesn't love the prestige and performance of an M, but really it's loud and brutal. I think I'm past the boy-racer that I was when I was younger. I don't think I could tolerate it on a day-day basis. I want a little quieter and more refined.
I test drove a 135i convertible yesterday. I think it's a better fit for me as far as suspension and noise. I just have to find one optioned the way I want it, and I can wait. |

Don't think it makes sense, but enjoy the hunt for a new car

Hey guys I haven't been on here in a while but a fellow Fanatic JealousWorld gave me a ride yesterday in his new HPF M3 yesterday, at the dyno day I can't describe how fast that car felt, an i've driven an rode in a lot of decently fast cars before, but that car is very impressive. Thanks again JelousWorld

Been a while since I've been on here as well. Getting pretty excited for the spring. I recently purchased a square 18x9 M3 wheel setup and was curious if anyone has good recommendations for the tires. Size, brand, etc. Thanks.

Will you drive in snow? If you want a high performance tire that you can still drive in snow, I love the Conti Extreeme Contact DWS. I go through a set of summer only tires every year so I do know what grip it like.

I will probably be utilizing these all season. The DWS is def high on the list. I am more curious about a suitable size for a 9" wide rim. I'm thinking maybe 235/40R18 but I don't want to stretch the tire and make it useless. I also don't want so much tire that I'm rubbing the fenders and prematurely wearing them out. Probably going to be walking a fine line putting ridiculous wheels like this on an xi. LOL. |

I don't know about methanol but I know the gas station at 32nd and Wadsworth in Wheat Ridge sells 100 octane race gas.

Brandon, do you still have the RTAB tools?
Terdwrassler and I are going to rent lift at a DIY shop in westminster. Planning to get the RTABs, RSMs and FCABs done at the same time on both the cars. Anyone wanna join in for a DIY day? Going to do diff fluid as well on both, may be transmission fluid as well. At $25/hr, not expensive at all. May be a group reservation?

anyone have any experience with Mod Bargains/NRG cf hoods ?
i need a vented hood for my M3 and was looking at this one as it is pretty inexpensive (when compared to the vorstiener one): http://www.modbargains.com/Carbon-Fi...od-BMW-E46.htm fit doesn't need to be perfect as this is a race car, but it shouldn't be godawful for that price either.

http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=437534 It seems like Flossman makes the lightest and highest quality ones, but they're very expensive. I have been told that basically anything sold by a dealer is made and china and of extremely questionable quality. If you're open minded about buying used, Vorsteiner is always pretty good. the ones that I've seen dont fit exactly perfect along the fender, but maybe it was an alignment issue. They're not very light but at least they wont break.

trj,
I saw that you posted a bit in the headlight retrofit thread. Did you ever get your headlight retrofit isntalled? I am buying new bulbs and lenses and I will be ready for install. |
