I can see it now, "In local news a jogger was attacked by a deranged mechanic, he assaulted the jogger with a 14mm craftsman."

Looks like I'm not the only one with problems.

Turns out my quick fix didn't work on the alternator pulley. There goes alternator #3. lol. I'll be buying another one tomorrow, but won't have a pulley yet. I haven't checked the car as of yet because I was so pissed, but I think the belt may be still good. The pulley didn't actually fall off till 10 meters from where I park it at the barracks. Wheeew. That good I guess. I didn't get stranded somewhere. So I figure I can run on a pulley for about 450 miles. So this next one shopuld be the last one I buy. I will install it, maybe show up at the events, but not participate and then drive it to SCR on Tuesday. So no tooling around this weekend for me. Might show up to a CS meet on Saturday. Don't know yet.

Not the greatest pics as there wasn't much light but I wanted to Rich to see them once last time before I takes them for good.

well, i got a ChaseCam setup (used) and installed it last night and completed the wiring today after work.

took it out for a video and sound check... here's the result (kinda lower quality on youtube, but it works)

i've since rotated the camera a little more to the right so that it looks more straight ahead.
i need to find a place to mount the external mic so that it doesn't pick up wind noise, i had it mounted behind the passenger seat on the transmission tunnel, but at 70 MPH on HWY-66 i still got some buffeting wind noise.

Which is why most guys are mounting their external mics to the rear license plate frame...

i could try that, but i'm not sure that wouldn't yield wind as well... i say this because i always have dust up the back of my car after going for a drive... so clearly something is blowing the debris off the road and up onto the rear of the car.

have you tried it yet with any success ?
i'm certainly willing to give it a try if it will work, but i do like the other sounds i get inside the car, like me cursing and such. just feels more natural to have the sound coming from relatively the same area as the video feed.

Yeah....my spring fix is complete! I appreciate your help Garrett and Brandon. However, the spring seating is correct in my post. Either way, I am relieved.

Where is Azzy? We need to have this official photo shoot.

Garrett, there are posts on bimmerforums with videos of using the mic on the back of the car and it sounds very clean, no wind noise...

The car just went out on me yesterday, but if I can get it up and running I might be at the event.

Doc, wheels are still mine. I just let him try them on since they are in his garage. He'll have to run far, far away with them if he wants to keep them.

Well, i finally went out to check the car. It seems the pulley is still there. W...T....F! So I tried starting it again. It worked, but only for a hoot minute then the electrical stuff started dying out one by one. Soooooooo, either the pulley is sheered, but still on the threads holding on for dear life, the alternator is bad, or something completely different is wrong that I don't know of yet.

All I know as of now is that the speakers went dead first, then thhe nav system. And almost all the warning lights were on minutes before it completely shut off the engine. I'm still going to buy another alternator to see if its just a bad alternator. If that doesn't work then I'm out of ideas.
