Josh, the reason for the belt swap is the that i was going to get a HANS compatible should belt, right now i have 3" shoulders, good for non-HANS setups, but 2" belts are better for HANS.

the reason for removing both sets of seats and belts would be to eliminate the passenger side.

and lastly, yes, i should have mentioned a new half-cage being from scratch as the current one is designed for a full-interior car, and now that my car has no interior there is a noticeable 2" gap between the bar and the body of the car. plus as you've noted the current bar design is more of a street/occasional-track bar, the weld-in half-cage design would be thoroughly tied to the body.

You can get just the 2" shoulder straps for your harness from HMS. They're not very expensive and then you wouldn't have to sell the harness.

If you want to instruct eventually, you may want to keep the passenger seat and just not install it when you're racing.

good point about getting the straps from HMS, however, it's not just as easy as buying 2" shoulders, the style of belt i have has the cam attached to one of the shoulders, so i'd have to probably send it back to HMS so they can service it.

and it is highly unlikely that i will be doing a full racecar build this soon, so i'll just keep what i have seat and belt-wise for another year.

You sure about the cam placement G? On my Schroths (and every other cam Schroth I've owned) it's attached to one of the lap belts...
