M3 Transmission Swap

So, I've finally gotten annoyed with my 2nd gear being hard to engage sometimes with my stock ZF 6 speed, so I purchased an M3 transmission. I know all the shifter stuff, etc will need to be changed, but what about the flywheel, clutch, etc. I'm pretty sure I'll need to go with a 330i 6 speed flywheel and an M3 clutch.pressure plate, but I'm not totally sure. I know both clutch disks, are 240mm, but what about the splines, pilot bearing diameter, etc. If anyone has done this swap or knows what will work, please let me know.

um... first thing to check will be whether that trans will actually bolt to the block of your motor. I have a feeling that you'll need a lot of different parts for this one. Good luck, though

It will bolt to the back of the engine, I know that much. I;m thinking the clutch wont be an issue, as the e34 m5 clutch is listed as an upgrade for both e46 m3s and 6 speed 330s, but I'm not positive.

I know this for sure, the clutch for the zhp-6mt has an input shaft with 22 splines, the M-6mt has fewer, I think it's 10 splines. I'm not sure if the flywheel will work but my guess is no. They are different part numbers on the stock flywheels, and when you order aftermarket they are different also. The slave cylinder, fork, pivot bearing, and mounting brackets are all different part numbers too. Use RealOEM.com to look stuff up.

I know the part numbers are different, but that doesn't make them not interchange. i.e. E34 m5 clutch, etc. Also, if you want a ZHP trans, you can have mine, with all shifter parts, clutch, flywheel (20k on these), etc for $1500 shipped
