^^haha no license

I never redline unless at a track. Which is about 1 every two or more months. Plus you really don't need to go more than 4000 imo... You feel plenty of torque around there. I just need to fix my vanos badly....

Many times a day when it's safe. Over the last 7 years, and honestly the motor runs good as new at 150k miles. While I can't speak for someone else's car, I know mine's reacted fantastically to constant redlining.

Almost never. I have my reasons. Greensboro has a 35 mph speed limit across the entire city...and it is enforced.

Hitting redline in 1st gear get's me (as I recall) around the speed limit and second gear (just shifting into it from redline 1st) makes me speeding basically...

Only when I hit the I-40 onramp do I really ever goose it...

Greensboro is just too slow...

Come to think of it I don't think I've done it in my current car actually, I baby her... but it was a different story when I had the E30 & E36 - it was probably at least once a day

BMW uses fuel cut, not spark cut, in their E46's at least which means when you hit the rev limiter, the motor will only inject fuel into every other cylinder, meaning when yours on your limiter you are running on a slant 3, not a slant 6. This puts increased stress on the working cylinders while the other cylinders just float around with inert gasses in them. Its bad for the motor to put this added stress on it. It will also cause your motor to run lean which ultimatly could lead to detonation if you do it enough due to improper air to fuel mixture. If you buzz off of it on a late shift thats one thing, but i would never recommend running on the limiter for more than a second or 2.
Also, bouncing on and off the rev limiter is killer for the timing chains and chain tensioners.

I redline (but not to rev limiter) maybe once or twice a week, depending on traffic. And, never over 3k unless the engine is fully warmed up.

why would i want to redine. i like my engine not to be a gas glutton. not only that but why would i need to get to the red light faster. dont get me wrong im not a g-ma driver i like to haul ass when i can. my friend tells me that someone told him that its good to do it every now and then to burn off the build up or gunk or some **** like that

about once per day, usually in the morning commute! Not really redlining it but very close...
Plus...u don't have to be going extremely fast to do 6000rpms, engine sounds so nice.
