Cool Summerizing your BMW for the summer...

Other than recharging the AC, washing, waxing and swapping on the summer shoes what do ya'll do to make summer driving fun?

I was thinking of pulling out the wood trim and putting in sportier trim for the summer. Also swapping out the larger Heated Steering Wheel for a smaller M Sport (possibly SMG) Steering Wheel and throwing matte black Vinyl on the roof to enhance the effect of the tints.

Looking for other ideas.

As for Hot Weather Car maintenance stuff I hear batteries tend to weaken during the summer months so I think I will change the battery. I also plan on a full coolant overhaul before the first hot day.

I know you're obsessive, but don't know how much...so most of what I'd suggest is more mechanical...as in, how many miles you have...and year of car...sorry! I think we're within a year of one another though. Anyway, if up above 150K, cooling system overhaul can include three heater line hoses and one other that I gave up on.

Maybe trade the summer trim idea for something by way of suspension...bushings as a little treat for her. Depending on mileage and you...vcg or ccv and a trip to clean disa, icv, tb and give them new gaskets?

Spend time finding the drains and checking them...hose out rocker panel from winter salt really well.

Ah, of course you'd use rejuevenator oil and pristine clean...so great time to soak leather in oil on a warm day.

Silicone /gummipfledge everything you can find. "BlackAgain" is good for the exterior black trim...and it's UV activated, so good to apply in sun.

Find one new spot dirt has been hiding...think I have them all now!

Maybe it's time to replace the windshield cowl?

Anyway, just some random thoughts...wish I had time to do what I just wrote myself...you'll have to post pics!

HTH, Doug

Hi Doug,
I have a 2001 330i with 56,000 miles on it.

I'll be glad to get the
cooling system overhauled before or at 60k. Which is when and where I will either sell the car or do this maintenance. If I sell I will skip it and I decide to keep the car for some more miles then I will do the coolant overhaul and get a stewart water pump put in there.

Correct. As you're approaching the car, click the remote twice and HOLD, and the windows/sunroof will be opened. The car will be cooler by the time you get there, and you won't get that furnace blast in your face when you open the door.

Helps to extend the range by holding the key blade to your chin.

Lol you can unlock your car from 1/2 mile away when you put the key to your chin and unlock it.

But as for getting my car ready for summer...nothing I'm in hot ass Florida it's always summer here.

Haha, wouldn't say half a mile. I got around 250ft on good days.
