Anyone have a clue?????

I tried this DIY..... I recently had my lights activated and they DO flash with lock and unlock. Though i get no sound at all from my buzzer.

Suggestions?

(I think it may be a bad buzzer....anyone know the proper way to test a buzzer for correct operation)

test with your battery

you can test out your siren by connecting the black wire (negative) to the body of the car and touch the red wire (positive) on your siren to the red Positive battery terminal. This will power on the siren and it will sound off. If you have a defective siren, then you will hear nothing.

If you want to test the connector to see if it is sending the power to the siren, you can hook up a volt meter to the two connection mentioned by the OP.

NOTE: if you want to test it, MAKE SURE THAT YOUR HOOD PIN IS PRESSED DOWN in your engine bay. Sometimes with the hook up/Pin up, the siren won't activate.

With your volt meter, you should be getting 6-12 volts spikes when you press lock on your keyfob and 2 spikes when you unlock.

Does anyone know if there is a pre-wired siren harness inside the E9x hoods? I have a buzzer and was going to hook it up in my E46 but I can't find any body to activate light flash in my area. I also have an E92 that already has light flash and would like it to beep.

I did this DIY last night and it was super easy! Only reason it took me longer than 30 min is because I'm so meticulous about wire routing and mounting.

Definitely make sure you buy the loudest siren there (102db). Even that one is a little soft, especially compared to other OEM 'beepers.'

You also need to make sure the hood pin is getting depressed ALL THE WAY, otherwise the 'lock' beep will not sound. I rewired the siren twice thinking it was my own fault. I'd push the pin down and test it - no issues. I'd close the hood and test it - no beep! For some reason my hood isn't pushing the pin down enough, so I'm adding some time of rubber stopper to the hood where it makes contact to ensure that it fully depresses the pin.

Overall an awesome DIY for < $10!!!

Where exactly is the alarm plug? I can't tell from the pics. Taped to the left side of where? A spines out pic showing the location would be great.

That's what I did. Wanted a more secure connection, plus I'm never going to put an actual alarm in there.

I video says 273-059. However, mounted inside the engine bay it is probably too soft.

It probably is on the other side on a RHD drive vehicle.

I found this pic of the siren mounting location and since it is on the other side, the cable should be as well:

Just wanted to stop by and say thanks to the person that did this, i finally got mine installed and i love it. I ended up using radio shacks 108db, which sound good.
On another note, i was thinking. Has anyone successfully wired up angel eyes like this? So that they blink with the signal lights when the car is unlocked and locked.
