***UPDATE***

After speaking with a tech at the dealership. They confirm that this will only work with vehicles ARE programed to flash. It usually cost about $60 to have them do it.

Sorry for not putting that info out there sooner.

Cool. No motion sensor (glass breaking) or tilt sensor, but at least door opening.

I may try the radio shack piezo siren (273-0079). It may provide a "chirp" on lock/unlock and a siren on constant signal.

hey great find! i just completed the diy.... but it seems like the buzzer is on all the time...i mean there is a faint beep, any ideas?

p.s i was testing it for a couple of seconds, unlock, lock, unlock etc....and eventually the flashes disappeared and it looked like the door locks struggled to get up

What kind of buzzer did you use? I dont hear anything from mine. As for the door locks I would test the battery just to be safe. Most buzzer will only use about 150mA

    wow thats pretty wierd...
i was told that most of the buzzers were updated and the 00's are the older ones. Maybe try a 273-060 the one in the plastic bags?

my verdict about the faint beeeep: a tiny bit of the power and ground wire is exposed going into the oem siren connection....maybe, just maybe there some electrical leakage going on, because there's not much space(resistance) between the two wires

seems possible. You could always just try splicing the wires individually to try to bypass the connector.

OP great DIY man... quick question, when you say "pin"... what do you mean?

i'm not up to par on electrical.. i imagine you need to buy extra wire right? how is the wire connected to the beeper?

    thanks

^ naw but i suspect its from the exposed power and ground wire...too lazy to fix it lol. i just learn to love it because A: i cant hear it when im driving and B: when i lock my car, i usually walk away, only to come back to drive it again.....vicious cycle but it works lol

Thanks for a Great DIY OP!

I initially used the 90db siren, as you did in the beginning, and it was too faint. Especially with a little wind and road noise from nearby cars in a parking lot, it was hard to hear over the sound of the locks engaging.

Then I switched it out for the 102db and its perfect. Sounds not too loud, and not too faint.

Way way easy too...this is a must DIY for those who have the light flash upon lock activated. BTW...cost me $50 at the dealership and I had several other options activated all at once for the flat cost of $50.
