Thumbs Up BMW E46 M3 DSC - How to disable it before a race! - VIDEO

Disabling the DSC can cause you to run off the road and die. I am not recommending doing it, but am providing the information for those that track the car and want it off so they can maximize their 1/4 mile or lap times without the DSC kicking in.

We are working with Active Autowerke on a DME change for the car to remember this DSC setting so those that track their car don't have to repeat this procedure every time they start the car. This was a real pain when I was in the grid at MFest. I finally got the DSC to stay off, but when you're in line to race and you have to restart your car, it is the last thing you want to think about.

I just uploaded the video so it may take a few minutes before it's live.

Chris.

correct me if im wrong...but I remember a method..

while ur car is running..if u hold down the DSC button for like 10 sec's... the DSC light will flash a couple times... that means its DSC is off for good.

anyone heard about this?

when you touch it it will stay off under normal driving, but when the car becomes SEVERELY overpowering it will kick back on. doing the hold down method completely disables it and will not turn back on under any circumstance until the ignition is cycled again.

this works on non-m e46's as well. I just tried it on my car and I was surprised, haha but Im not gonna need to do that in the old 323'er which doesnt even have enough power to make dsc activate in the first place

So, I took the car out last night after mounting some Mickey Thompson 17's. First few runs I was puzzled as I hit the DSC button but it seemed to still be intervening. Pulled over and turned the car off, put the key on Acc 2, held the DSC button for 10 or so seconds and made the DSC light stay on permanently, solved my problem right away.

Thanks Chris!

Good deal. I knew that had to be affecting everyone. We have to do it in both the HPF M3 and the Karwerkz M3.

I think it has to do with the tires or the drag the tires put on the car. I don't think this would happen with street tires. Must be the low psi stiff sidewall of MT's

i know for non m you just hold it down for like 5 seconds then the yellow brake light will come on as well, then you will need to restart the car to turn it off.

What year is your car, MSpired? Perhaps that has something to do with it. Just throwing out an idea.
