So I took advantage of the ECS sale and got me a sweet set of coilovers.
The shop I trust is trying to install them as we speak......
I have a 2000 323ci with the 17" stock wheels.
Now they tell me I need spacers.....I need strut mounts or whatever , adjustable this and that.....
So anyway, how come I need all that, when I see DIY's here or several people in the Raceland thread that just put them on with no issues other than endlinks which were included in the kit of the FK ones.
yeap to go as low as I wanted i added 5mm spacers
no big deal i had 42mm offset on me wheels, by the way you could go without spacers just not as low, for it to go lower the large black nut needs to come down
If you want to get by without spacers then you can ask the shop to remove the tender springs as they're totally unnecessary. With them out, you possibly won't need spacers.
With that said, 5 or 8mm spacers do the trick for most people. I prefer 8mm spacers with TMS hub extenders.
I wouldn't buy off ebay for something so inexpensive. Its good to know the make of the product before purchasing. And they aren't much more expensive from ECS.
The rears you could change after the coil's have been installed I believe. But the fronts need to be installed at the same time. And I really cant tell you that you will be ok without camber plates or not, thats up to you. Ride quality and tire wear might become an issue, but that is only related to how much neg. camber the car displays after its all installed.
And You should definitely replace the rears at the same time. If the fronts are worn then the rears already are, or soon will be ready to be replaced.
Sure, thanks buddy, I appreciate it!
Well these on ebay are OEM, so I thought what the hell.
OK, I will call my shop and tell them that, maybe it's best to just go with the adjustable ones and get the job done right!
I hate low quality sh1t or a job half done.
That's why I went with this Coilover kit in the first place instead of the Racelands.
Things I learned.....when using coilovers, you need spacers in the front, new strut mounts front and back, possibly even adjustable ones, which run $300.
Well they are more than $350 on most online sites, but I think my shop will get them straight from Specialty Products for slightly more then $300, I think they said, 32...something.
If you have the means... then thats the best way to go. Good luck, and dont forget to post pics when its all said and done sir.
