thanks to various DIYs on this site I completed two pieces of work this weekend that I'd been putting off for a while :-

Yesterday I replaced the igniter in one of my headlights. It had been intermittently working but had recently got a lot worse. It was a pain to replace as it required taking the entire headlight assembly apart. Then today I enlisted the help of a friend and we replaced the sunroof cassette. The sunroof had chewed its track and I picked up a cheap cassette from a later car from ebay. It wasn't a particularly difficult job but lots of little fiddly trim pieces to remove and replace, it took all day but now I have a working and more importantly fully closed sunroof and no more having to drive around with my foglights on!

What was the problem you were having with your headlights exactly? I'm afraid my ignitor is busted too

Initially the headlight would fail to fire about 25% of the time but in cold weather (< 40F) it would be more prevalent. I got the bulb failure warning in the car when it failed. Turning the lights off and on would often coax it into life and once it had fired once it would generally be ok for the rest of the day. However it got a lot worse over the last few weeks and I bought a new igniter from Tischer. The DIY isn't hard at all but it can be fiddly and a little time consuming. Getting the reflector bowl out of the auto levelling arm was the biggest PITA for me.

Just changed the auto gear box oil at 100,800 miles. The oil was ink black and all of the magnets were well coated in filings.

The gearbox is noticeably smoother after the change.

Anybody at 100,000 miles shouldn't think twice about doing this - just do it.
