^^^^To be honest, I should give it more of a chance: the tires are nearly trashed and don't match front to rear (new tires ordered, thanks tire rack). Compared to my 3er it seems to have a lot of understeer and just heavy steering feel in general. Headaches aren't there yet - but I order a bunch of knick-knacks for it tonight to tighten it up in general. The good news is that if you want an E39 540 or M5 they are a dime a dozen at the moment, and you can get into a great car on the cheap.

This past weekend, installed new shocks/struts, changed oil/filter, in cabin air filter replaced, new fuel filter and changed the spark plugs. Now, just need to get new tires and a bath.

No why? The tires still look like they did before. Anything cleans off rubber.

Finally got it back from my fiance. She's been driving it for the last month with her car in the shop. I get it for a whole day!! I have driven it on my own about 4 times since the superbowl .....

Today I finished my homemade hitch rack.

I took a Yakima King Cobra made for roof racks and bolted it to a hitch platform I made.

1.25" 14 gauge square tubing, cut & welded to the correct dimensions, holes drilled for hitch pin, sanded, primed, painted & cleared.

Only thing left is some nice end caps to plug the holes at the ends of the tubes.

The M3 mirror I bought on eBay ended up being DOA, and in the process of mounting it I ended up breaking the connector that goes to the rain sensor - half of it is stuck inside the rain sensor so I can't even just hook up the wires to a different 4-pin connector.

it shouldnt be too hard to get that out and move the wires over. I had to do it when I did my e60 mirror and I broke it the exact same way. The only problem I had (after I had to rewire it) was that the wires wouldnt go back into the 'housing' very well and it took several days of trying to get the plastic shroud to line up right.

Well half the connector is stuck inside and there's nothing to grip onto to pull it out. I figure since at this point I've got nothing to lose, I took the other half, put some crazy glue on it, and am now waiting for it to cure. If all works well, I can at least pull out the piece that's stuck in there. I do happen to have another 4-pin connector (from when I wanted to do a rain sensor retro on my old car, so I can rebuild the harness pretty easily. If I can't get the plastic piece out, I'll probably need a new rain sensor... Hopefully someone can mount it without requiring a new windshield. At least the wipers default to intermittent when the rain sensor is missing.

Programmed in KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB to aktiv in GM5 module with NCS in my ZHP. Now holding the central button not just locks the car, but closing all windows too. Same as opening, but in reverse. Very nice!
