Got my relay harness installed. It's fairly clean but I'm thinking about going with the CANbus adapters to be super clean.

Brand new rotors and pads all the way around and a new caliper on the front right side. Caliper was friggin locked all the way out and rusted to high hell, causing the brakes to grab and grind all the way down to the metal.

Washed all of the salt off of the underside and topside. Ready for the next round of snow and salt.

LOL. (Not funny if you actually had drugs in your car. In which case I appologize for LOL.) Makes me glad that I have gray hair and live in Kentucky.

Replaced my Guibo disc and fixed the 5th gear problem. When cold my shifter was fully right so i replaced the bushing of the fifth gear locating pin. Now finding third gear is a lot easyer.
Needed to remove the transmission and removing it was a real PITA due to seized locating pin of the starter motor. Finaly i managed to remove it after a lot of sweating and swea

I didn't let him search my car but he insisted on helping himself. It was so off guard that our phones were inside the car otherwise we would have recorded everything.

I got drug searched the first night of my honeymoon in St. Augustine. We decided last minute the day after our wedding to go. We rolled into town at 1:30 AM on a Sunday night. While we were driving around looking for a hotel, I missed my turn into a hotel parking lot, and I mistakenly turned into a closed fast food joint. That was all the suspicion they needed. I turned around and tried to get back out on the highway, but there were the blue lights. Of course, I was tired and my eyes were probably red. They even brought a dog in to smell our car. The girl that searched me actually had the audacity to make fun of me for having a tire pressure gauge in my pocket!

So it turns out you don't need a harness or canbus adapters. You just need PAsoft. The retrofit works perfectly except the factory 9006 connector doesn't fit properly into the ballast. I made a 9006 to 9006 adapter. Yes you read that right. The morimoto ballast has no problems with a typical 9006 connector. It dislikes BMW's connector even though it's also 9006.

I actually found out that our cars do not like harnesses either. At least it doesn't like TRS's harness. The bulb out feature really causes some strange stuff with relays.

good work! I have always had this project in the back of my head. Nothing like a clean HID cutoff. Mine next? lol

It's worth it. I just took a drive around the dark back roads. My high beams are ludicrous. Shutter down plus the halogen high beams with sylvan is bulbs. It's like driving the the day. Should make darker winter commutes very nice. Interstate driving at night should be sick.

My cooling system had multiple leaks and my water pump bearings were shot. (Leaking around the thermostat gasket as well as leaking at the WP, and maybe even some leaks in the radiator). Did a full cooling refresh at 141,000 miles and a oil filter housing gasket. I got the ECS Tuning cooling refresh kit. Did the water pump (OE), thermostat (Wahler), Upper and Lower radiator hoses (Gates), Radiator (Behr), Oil Filter Housing Gasket (BMW), belts (Continental), tensioners (INA and Meyle). Also replaced my headlight lenses. My old ones weren't bad, but new ones just freshen up the car so much... It's a worthwhile investment.

When I opened up the parts in the ECS kit, I was not happy with the perceived quality of the GEBA pump. Most specifically, the cast impeller didn't impress me. If you rubbed the edge of the impeller with your fingers, you could actually flake off little flecks of metal left over from the casting process. No thanks. I decided to return it and go OE instead at that point. IMO the lower mass impeller is probably easier on the bearings, especially if the impeller is not perfectly balanced. I didn't want to do the job again. I didn't feel strongly that the GEBA would last me until 200k miles. When I pulled off my existing pump, though, I laughed as I saw that it was the GEBA. It lasted me 80,000 miles before it really started leaking perceptibly (that is, before I saw a low coolant indicator). I probably should have replaced it 10,000 miles ago. Live and learn.

Other somewhat things I noticed... The Behr radiator has its own drain plug, and the OE plug that ECS sends with it does not fit. Oh well, the Behr plug works fine. I can't believe how cheaply the radiators in our car can be had for.

I love having a manual transmission.

I double-checked everything, then drove around the block. Then I opened the hood to triple-check for leaks. I noticed that my lower radiator hose was 1/2 way off! I had forgotten to clip it in! Glad it was only a 1 block drive, otherwise things would have gotten nasty real quick. I pushed in and clipped in the hose, and I've had no problems.

When I took the alternator off and spun the bearings (it's a rebuild 120A Bosch), I noticed they were failing. This at only 60,000 miles! Too damned soon for an alternator -- especially one that's $250... I ordered a new one from Advance Auto Parts online, because I didn't want to have to mail back the core (I figure I can take it in to the store down the street). Almost 1.5 weeks later, they haven't even shipped the thing. Not happy. After a week of waiting, I put the old alternator back in the car. I guess I will do the alternator when I do the PS reservoir in a week or two.

Washed all the grease and dust out of my engine bay. Does anyone know if its worth keeping the standard 318i abs or is it more effort than what its worth (easyer to run aftermarket)
I'm doing an engine swap on mine and unsure if it will still work with a non bmw computer
Cheers. Dylan
