I've been procrastinating on replacing the driver's side rear window regulator but decided to bite the bullet today. Pretty easy job, actually.

Let's see how long the no-name regulator lasts. Now I just need to get my ass doing the passenger front, too. Preferrably before that takes a dump like the driver's rear.

I thought I had really screwed it up, took it apart again, tightened the screw holding the glass to the regulator, tested it and Wala! Perfecto window!

Just washed the car, vacuumed the inside, cleaned the trunk out and cleaned up the engine bay a bit.
Staggard doesn't mean less sidewall on the rear. The sidewall number is a percentage of tire width.

For example, for my newly aquired summers wheels and tires, the tires are 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear. The sidewall height difference is 1/8". That's like 1 or 2 seasons worth of tread wear. (nuthin basically)

back on topic

Changed my sparks to NGK iridiums and dropped in a K&N air filter.

Went for a cruise with local BMW fanatics. Not just e46's, but had E90's, 1 series, even had a Porsche and cobalt. Was really fun, attached some pics. Went from MD to Philly for some cheesesteaks. Was fun, at points we would hit a ~100 as a pack. Really fun, had a good 20 cars or so. Was a total of 6 hours round trip. Those that wanted, did some pulls against each other. Everyone had 2-way radios, so we could keep in touch. Definitely would recommend that everyone take part in something like this at some point with local fanatics. One of those involved was new//M3fan as well.

Weather was very nice here, was able to do a quick mini-detail yesterday and today:

So can I run 235/40 all around on 18x8 front and 18x8.5 rear?

probably, but why? run a staggard tire setup, you have the rims for it already...

throw some 255/35 on the rear, 235/40 on the front and call it a day.

I know but the roads here in NYC aren't the most generous...

then why did you buy 18's?

The sidewall on both the sizes i mentioned are almost exactly the same. Its the same amount of sidewall as if you ran 235/40 all around. just a wider tire.

besides, a wider tire will protect the lip from curb rash better too.

It's your choice. But i still don't understand why. You said because the roads in NYC are bad, but what does that have to do with a square setup vs staggard??

Well being able to rotate and just having that bit bigger sidewall. If I can't get anyone to trade I'll just do the staggered and deal with it.

I like the 4th pic with the front of the car angled, but it would look better if you took the pic further back so I could crop it easier.

Did the e90 reflector retrofit on *one* headlight. I was pretty distracted - football, movies, nice weather, etc. I'll do the other next weekend.

Do you think it made any difference? Here's the old reflector, and one of the new ones.

The PO painted them black. I'm contemplating to strip the paint and have them silver or leave them as is. Everyone says they look good black...I'm not sure what style BBS they are, I need to see a set of silver ones on a silver sedan to know for sure what I'm going to do.

I got the parts off ebay. There are a couple of DIYs that I worked from. I still had to figure out a little on my own. I may do a DIY when I do the other one. Unfortunately, I already took the new reflector apart, and cut it down, so I can't do any before pictures for that.

Here is the reflector DIY I used:

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=845704

An I used this DIY to take the headlights apart. This DIY was not 100% accurate, though. That's what has me thinking that I may try to put my own together.

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=609558

I couldn't say if you shoud do this, or the FX-R stuff. This was cheaper. I don't know if it was easier. Don't know if the end result is better, either. For me, it was a cheap way to fix a problem. I wasn't looking for an upgrade. Just a repair.
