Everything is in his sig. But also his advice is to open the hood and look up the parts on realoem and buy new ones and install. Once youve done the maintenance do the suspension

Today.... if that means in the "last continuous 48 hours", I've

1. Changed Oil from BMW OEM to 6qt Mobil 0W-40 & 1qt Castrol 5W-40
2. Changed Spark Plugs from BOSCH to NKG

3. Replaced Valve Cover
4.Replaced Valve Cover Bolt Gommets
5. Replaced Sparkplug Well Gasket
6. Replaced Throttle Body Gasket
7. Replaced Vanos Seals w/ BESIAN seaks
8. Replaced Idle Control Valve gasket/gommet
9. Replaced Lower Intake Boot
10. Replaced Vaccum line to Brake Booster hose & clamps

11. Broke Sparkplug/Coil Grounding bolt (Thank GOD there is 2 spare unused ones!)
12. Broke 1st right short VANOS stud cause torque wrench decided to randomly crapout

13. Macgyver a long 10mm screw w/ sawed off head into cheapo-make-pretend VANOS stud
14. Macgyver some really small rubber o-rings into temporary nut to hold coil ground wire clip in place as the original nut is stuck on the broken bolt

15. Failed at Gorilla gluing broken VANOS stud (LOL WTF was I thinking? Sleep deprivation ftw)
16. Apeshitted over the bloody mechanical fan nut cause after maybe 3 hours of trying to get the ****ing heavy ass fan blade on while trying to hold the damn thing with a pinkie while doing some acobatic **** around the damn fan cover. (Nobody is up at 3am to help me )
17. Dented the front black support bar with the 32mm wrench after going apeshit in frustration cause my back hurts from bending over in a ****ing awkward hunch. (thank god the air intake covers the dent!)
18. Learned just how ze germans enginner ein autowagon to punish automatic drivers' posture (and their mechanic's too!)
19. Decided I will order a electric fan and to do a mech to electric fan conversion.
20. Contemplating upon arrival of electric fan, in the middle of the night, chunking the damn mech fan and shoad thru BMW Stealership's window (Bavaria too far away, and I lack access to thermonuclear weapons)
21. Appreciating that my car trim package comes with lumber support.
22. Filing disability insurance and putting E46 as the reason.

Ask not what you did to your E46 today but what your E46 did to you!

Ps. Why did you use two different oils?

Maybe its just my particular motor or my mind but I noticed before with failed VANOS seal (really failed, aka pistons flopping freely) I got less low-rpm performance using the BMW OEM Oil vs using Mobil 0W-40, which gave me a little better low-rpm performance according to my butt-dyno. However with the Mobil 0W-40, I noticed during cold motor start ups, my motor had a noticeably louder "tick/clank-whatever" as well as when I turned my motor off, I had slower/less of the "hot oil dripping back to oil pan metallic noise".

I theorize its due to the viscosity characteristics of Mobil 1 0W-40. Thats why I used all Mobil 1 before todays VANOS seal change. However I noticed while doing the Besian VANOS job improved just about everything on the motor (perfomance, MPG) I also felt the motor having alot more vibration and louder idle, sounded like it was laboring to flow the thicker oil.

Due to the fact that the maintenance DIY (and back surgery) performed above and previous DIYs meant I visited Autozone and bought enough crap to warrant a $20 membership reward. Since every employee of all shifts of the particular store I go to pretty much says "back again?" or something of the sort like its a running joke, I figured better spent the reward quickly so I don't need to see their smirking faces for at least a couple months. **** was getting real old.

Two bottles of Castrol 5W-40 (The new label stuff) happens to costs $19.78 so on a whim I figured mixing oil of different viscosity may help quiet the engine down and smoothen the idle. And apparently it isn't the first time a half-reasoned hunch worked out. So far cold startup tick been quieter, idle been smoother and the engine doesn't vibrate as hard as with 100% Mobil 1 oil. I'm tempted to drain out another 1pt of oil (6/7 M1, 1/7 Castrol) and add in another pint of Castrol 5W-40.

Anybody want to substantiate my theory and maybe prove I'm not going crazy?

as in the last 24 hrs?

I changed my fuel filter (myself) and repositioned the pass. side windshield wiper arm... when I got the car the right side wiper blade would extend and rest on the edge of the hood-and they were some crust old rain x wipers from 10 yrs ago, so before it does any damaged i had to rectify dat issh!
They say for an 02 coupe the driver's side blade length should be 22 and passenger side 20.... Somebody got their numbers wrong. I ended up getting 22 and 18. Now I'm IRIE!!

OH YEAH PEP BOYS HAS A SALE ON WIPERS I PAID 22 BUCKS FOR 2 WIPER BLADES, THE LATITUDE SERIES... SOME KINNA REBATE THAT'S ADMINISTERED AT THE CASH REGISTER SO YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO MAIL SH/T IN

My Ride: Fst'r then your e46
I was so bothered by this when I got the car. The left side of the car didnt have it, but the right side did. It looked like specticles of rust was all over my door and side skirts. Clay bar didnt work, but a nice orbital did the job with m105 and m205. Now I am happy

Replaced the idler pulley, belt tensioner and the belts with no luck. Car still makes strange rattle noise; will continue with work tomorrow as I replace spark plugs, VCG and fuel filter.
