Finished replacing the cooling system. In the process, put a six in scratch in my hood with the garage door.

Don't even ask how this happened. Just make sure that, with the car on jacks, there is enough clearance between the garage door and the opened hood. If not, close the damn hood before closing the garage door.

Next on the list is a trip to my local paint shop. The hood had a few scratches from PO, so we were going to do this sooner or later.

I got it from thebmwpartstore. I don't know if their database shows the part number yet, but Mike can order it if you email them.

Was this difficult to install?

Was there a part number on the package or invoice?

My OEM ZHP knob with 116k miles is looking pretty rough...

Thanks!

Finally fixed a nagging coolant leak from the fitting between the ET and the rear-facing hose. Took some plumber's tape and a lot of elbow grease.

Betsy is no longer leaving little pools of blue gold everywhere she rests. lol

My Harbor Freight 2 Ton Aluminum floor jack performed perfectly with my ECS jack pad adapter. 5 pumps to full height is false, but it doesn't take many. I lifted the car with ease and confidence today.

Also, these 3 Ton Aluminum Jack stands were great. They work well with our jack pads when you have the seat perpendicular length wise to the length of the car. I'll be buying another 2 for my transmission service.

I discovered what I think is a VANOS rattle also today. That is the source of my rattling, not a pulley. VANOS is the only thing that rattles right? It's coming from the intake area, and if the DISA rattles too, it could be that.

Finished my oil pan gasket with Drewdown last night. Checked it for leaks today and it looks clean. We also found the cause for it leaking before (or at least we think). The front right oil pan bolt that goes into the timing case was stripped by the PO (the threads in the timing case were stripped, not the bolt). That's right where the oil was weeping from. So we did our best to seal it all up. What a of a job it is to replace that gasket. I'm glad it's done and I hope it stays leak free.

Next big project is the diff bushings.
