Yeah mine chipped because I stepped on it or something. Still works 100% though so it's no biggie. I'm surprised (not really) that you're replacing yours with no signs of failure.
They won't cause much of an issue if they fail and they normally have a soft failure by creating noise beforehand.
Technically you could drive without one and be ok. Maybe not in la traffic.

I'm in bumper to bumper traffic on a daily basis here in Los Angeles. Also I do a lot of canyon driving and the car gets so hot so fast, the fan is running at high speed when i reach the top of the mountain

Ah. Mine hardly ever turns on.
My only point of reference was when my e30 fan went, I was still able to drive it fine and monitor the temp because the gauge is a real temp gauge. Not a switch like the e46.
Good luck getting your replacement. BMA are good guys as you know so I'm sure it will be worked out promptly

Doing the cooling system tomorrow, along with ofhg (leaking). Also replacing valve cover gasket, fuel filter, cleaning icv and throttle body. Fcabs if there's time.

Castrol bought the rights to have their oil used in BMW's. It used to say Shell back in the day.

I don't care what it's called. I call it BMW because that's the official name. Of course I know it's manufactured by Castrol.

If it's solely recommended for use in the F01 B7 and F10 M5 (As opposed to other BMW cars where it's one of MANY approved/recommended), then it's superb in my book. It's also the most affordable of all approved and recommended oils.

500$ for 100k mile tune up from a bmw mechanic, it's a hookup, u guys thinks its reasonable? One small problem though, 1hr drive to get to him...worth it???

I think if you do it yourself it'll be cheaper than 500$ + 2hr drive(gas)

Cheaper maybe obvious cuz I'm not paying myself labor, the question was is it worth it, cuz I know he is the expert and I'm not plus all parts will be oe, basically I'm taking my car to the bmw dealer but he is gona do it of record
