My VCG is leaking for the 2nd time, after we took it to the dealership. I smell something fishy..

Did it many times already because of broken studs, leak at the VANOS and what not, I had to redo the VCG.
Torqued in a star pattern from middle bolt passenger side with torque wrench.

I am waiting to another VCG till the weather gets a little warmer.
This time its going to be OE or Goetz.

i'll be sure to chime in if i run into problems.... i did get a quote from the dealer for the vcg - was more than 3x what i paid for non-genuine... still not what i would consider expensive but comparatively so, yes...

there have been enough success stories with non-genuine on these boards that i felt ok going that route (other than with the reinz gasket)... we'll see how it works out... if non-genuine fails early, genuine won't seem like such a bad deal then...

i was kind of surprised not to see any sign of rtv in the prescribed locations once i got the cover off... anyone else notice that? this was first vcg job on this car

So I found a puddle of coolant under my car this morning, dashboard lit up and low and behold my tank is empty. Filled her up again and i seem to be losing coolant at a fair amount of time. I just changed the expansion tank and upper hose about a month ago. What should I be expecting?

Could be any number of things. That's why many people just replace everything at once. You could have blown up another ET if you overfilled it though.

today i decided to stop reading this forum so much spending money on upgrades and things that my car really doesnt need because its burning a hole in my pocket decomissioning my car and creating stress(fun) for unnecessary reasons. which is why we should all just be oem whores.
