Dove in to the CCV...again.

I replaced CCV and all hoses in January 2012. My oil consumption has not diminished (between 800-1000 miles b/w additions of German Castrol 5W-40). OFHG replaced at same time, as was VCG. Old-style dipstick tube was cleaned at replacement in 2012, but was not clogged.

Saturday I disassembled it all, and found lots of oil in the upper tube going back to the intake. Found less oil in tube going down to dipstick. Found evidence of water in cyclone. Disassembled diaphragm and it all looked intact (it was a BMW-branded, non-cold weather version). Found a URO parts version on Autohoss's site (misspelled intentionally) for $29, and a matching URO hose to the intake.

Also observed small leak at Vanos banjo near oil pressure switch, so purchased new vanos line and crush washers.

Will replace when it arrives, but I'm frankly at a loss as to where all this oil is going. Pulled undertray and it's dirty, but did not see leaks enough to add up to 1 quart in that few miles (about 20 days).

I'm sad to say I'm getting good at removing all the crap to get to the CCV.

I would advise against aftermarket CCV stuff. It doesn't fit together nicely as OE does. OE is well worth the extra $50 or so. Especially the upper pipe that connects to the valve cover.. that HAS to be OE. no exceptions or it will not fit correctly

How did you fix the tensioner i have the same problem???
I replaced the tensioner with a new one. And the wiring harness as well. And it didn't fix it. The light's still on and code still there. I have yet to trace the wire, but that's the only part left so...

The o-ring on my old one was shot... The new one stopped at the neck, took a bit more force then I thought it needed and finally popped in, with my thumb in between the metal rim and the cap.

Wouldn't stop bleeding for an hour.

This seems counter productive...

What did you do when the other 400 pigeons flew in for the fries and crapped everywhere...?!
