So I am usually a DIY guy, but I just moved down here and now realize that I was spoiled having access to a garage full of my dad's tools/ramps/etc. Not sure what shops you guys use, but in case anyone is interested this is what I discovered looking around for BMW Inspection II service quotes:

Hendrick BMW: $1500 w/ loaner BMW included
Auto Specialists of Lake Norman: $750 + $275 for valve adjustment and extra for parts and labor if out of spec (note: only emailed these guys, didn't negotiate)
BCH Imports: $875 (down from $1100 after they realized I had a quote from Eurowise for $900)
**Eurowise: $800 (down from $900 after I got the BCH Imports quote)**

I have already been to Eurowise once and enjoyed their service so I am happy to go there again, but I'm glad I shopped around because it ended up saving me an extra $100 bucks. BCH Imports had nice people as well and sounds like they have a bunch of mechanics who used to work for the Hendrick dealership, so I'm sure they know their stuff. Lake Norman just didn't seem like a good deal and the dealership might be worth it if the loaner was an M6 or something

Thanks guys! I just got the M3 used so I will let someone else do the work on it this time to get it back to perfect, but I am definitely going to learn all about working on BMWs for future maintenance/modifications ... maybe ill see you guys sometime at the coffee and cars meet or whatever its called

edit note: in the past I have mainly done work on subarus, but everything from installing coilovers and big brake kits to pulling the engine to change headgaskets/timing belt etc

yeah, when my 99 Si was stolen, they found it near the dumpsters in that same apartment complex. Keep it locked up tight.

Btw, we've had 2 customers come to us from EW to fix simple things that were neglected, and replace covers that weren't put back on during there service. Much abliged...

Where are you located? I do most of my own work, but would like to find a shop in the Denver/Huntersville area.

Anyone else have this happen to them a lot? I will park my car and when I come back other BMWs will be parked next to it ... I actually think its pretty cool and have started doing it myself. (both of the pics are from work)

That's pretty sweet. I've had it happen a few times when I'm out and about. I usually park in BFE and to come out and find another BM sitting next to mine is pretty cool. I'll have to grab a pic next time it happens.

I usually get lucky and nice mini van will park right next to me even though i've parked completely by myself

I was sorta in the area today. I had to go to corporate for a training class. I stayed at the Hampton near Carolina Place in Pineville.

Are any of you guys near there? I'll probably be there again next week and need a hooker sent to my room.
