Questions about muffler flow direction/size

I am about to delve into my custom exhaust build that I have been dreaming about for the past year or so (progress has been slow) and I have a big pile of parts sitting in my garage. I have 4 3"-18" louvered glasspacks, modified an exhaust cutout, have from another project an older 2.5" dynomax turbo muffler and some assorted 3" tubing. Basically I am going to join two of the glasspacks in the front to make one 36" right after the headers and hopefully fit the other 2 in where I need straight sections. I have a couple of questions before I start:

The glasspacks said that the flow should go through the muffler so it hits the louvers like this:

I was wondering if I would get any extra noise reducton if it hit them like this

I know it wouldn't flow as well but I really doubt it would make any power difference as the louvers are pretty small cross section wise. I just wouldn't want it to flow worse and be the same/noisier

The second question is: I was going to use the dynomax turbo because A.) I have it and B.) I would think it would quiet the exhaust down more then a 3" muffler of the same type, am I correct? The cutout is one I can adjust from inside the car and will dump right before it knecks down to 2.5" for the muffler, so I don't think I should be worried about it being a flow restriction...
