Glad you enjoyed it. As for as saving up, this build has been very expensive...to the point of questioning my sanity. You could buy an E92 M3 for less....

Good to see things are materializing, Adam. Mine's running, but the next stages are going at about the same pace. :-/ I hope things work in your favor moving forward.

Nice.

If it's like any other garage, that will fill up shortly.

Both the Engine and Transmission coolers are from BAT.

http://www.batinc.net/coolers.htm

They are 235 series / 25 row.

Adam, thank you for directing me to this thread. Exactly what I look for as entertainment and education on a Sunday morning (or any morning for that matter!).

As you know, I'm deep into an M190 installation on my E39 M5 and was contemplating integrating an HFS-6 controller that I used on my previous setup with the M190. Your thread has made me realize that is likely gratuitous--that everything I need to run 100% meth injection is already well within the M190's abilities. Certainly, the M190 can provide IDC and boost-referenced control of the Aquamist pump (I have a Howerton setup as well that Jeff and I configured for the tire-goo cubby in the E39 M5) as well as direct fail safes. I can't see any reason not to delete the HFS-6 controller altogether and control the HFS-6 valve with the Motec. Is this the route you are pursuing or something different?

In any event, a truly delightful thread. More power to you. It is precisely endeavors such as yours that make this hobby so compelling and enjoyable.

Peter,

Yes, I believe the M1 series can easily take over for the HFS-6 controller.

What I'm planning to do is run 2 channels of fluid injection: Pre-turbo, and pre-manifold.

The pre-turbo channel will be controlled by a 4D table with compressor speed and MAF defining the X/Y axis, and the 4th parameter being a corrector for ambient air temp.

The pre-manifold channel will be controlled by a 4D table with MAF and IAT defining the X/Y axis, and the 4th parameter being a corrector tied to EGT.

Flow sensors would be tied to each channel to aid in tuning, and for safety measures. There of course would be a level switch on the tank, and I've also been considering running a closed loop PWM output based on fluid pressure to drive the pump. However to start with, I think I'd just run the pump wide open.

If you are interested in this, we probably could work together on "Build" files. Although I'm unsure what my development timeline is going to be like....

I also have Boost Control, Transmission Control, and Nitrous control modules planned. But to start with I think I need to get a CAN sniffer up and running; there is a lot of a really good stuff that the OEM hardware does that I'd like to keep and tie into the Motec via CAN.

Thanks, Adam. Are you retaining the control valve mechanism from the HFS-6 or creating a control valve from scratch? Would be delighted to work together on the M1 build files. Let me solicit some input from Neel Vasavada on that and get back to you. I probably won't be finalizing my setup in that regard for a number of months, though my goal is to have it done and up and running for shakedown by the end of April.

Sorry yes...the Aquamist Control valves are used, with a PWM frequency of 30hz.

I also have WON valves that can be pulsed up to 50hz and flow a bit more....but I think they are overkill for this application.
