Swap 5 speed for 6 speed (330ci)

Hi all,

I've been impressed wiht the number of automatic cars that have been swapped to manuals.

I've already got a manual (5 speed) and am interested in a swap to a 6 speed. Any guidance anyone could give in getting that done (did they do it themselves or have a shop do it, were they happy with the outcome, what would they do differently, etc), that would be appreciated.

i had all the parts to do this to my 323ci but i ended up trading them for some schrick cams, headers and money. if you can find a 6sp tranny and driveshaft for a good price i'd go for it, same with the clutch, flywheel, shifter assembly, and trans mount, btw the parts are cheaper now than they were when i was going to do it

the 6sp is nothing special compared to a 5sp, unless you are running aggressive gears, it has 5 speed gearing with an extra gear

just search around and you should find the info you need

Yeah, not really worth it unless you get some cool custom gearing or something.

It would be cool, but I dont think all the time and money is worth it dont you think? unless M3 swap

The 6 speed gearbox is 25lbs heavier than the 5 speed ZF.

The only way i could justify it is if a person did a diff swap as well so the 6th gear will drop cruising down to a lower RPM.....having said that, I still want a 6sp trans cause I have never had one

i have a 6sp in my zhp, and would like to buy the parts down the road again to swap my 323 to 6sp also
