My Ride: BMW 330 CiA 2001
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D2

I'm in process to purchase set of tires above and putting them on original BMW type 50 rims (8j/17"). It looks like I have 2 options with these rims; put 225/45 all around or use "factory setup" 225/45 front and 245/40 in rear, but...concerns...

Parently (at least in Europe) BMW factory has done staggered setup with 7.5 inch rims front and 8,5 inch rims rear (i.e. 225/45 and 245/40) so question :

Is the ride quality going to be any different if I'm using same size rims(8j) all around with tire sizes above?

Also why is BMW recomending in its own factory setup rear tire size 245/40 (17") instead of 255/40 (17") which would be closer to the original tyre diameters :

225/45/17 634,3 mm revs/km 502
255/40/17 635,8 mm revs/km 501
245/40/17 627,8 mm revs/km 507

Any comments about the Goodyear newies....
