Basically I'm looking for something (like that) which can be dressed up or down; in a leather band; with a little larger than standard face.
in the price range you're looking at, Id suggest either Hamilton, or Swiss Army Victorinox.

Cool. I like what I saw on Hamilton's site. I'm kinda tired of SAV--my company has given me a few of the lower end models already.

edit: Sh!t, doesn't look like they sell Stowa's at US retailers. Grr

Hamilton definitely has a few that I'll be checking out. Have you heard much about Stowa (a few posts up)? Any other suggestions off the top of your head would be much appreciated--any w. larger face designs?
As odd as it may be, Overstock has some Oris' at decent prices, might be able to find something there.

I'm really partial to Hamilton though - the Hamilton I'm looking at picking up uses the same base movement (Valjoux 7750) as a $5k IWC Portuguese (granted it's much more heavily modified) and is able to be picked up for $900 and change.

I'm not vary familiar with Stowa - sorry.

Let us know what you decide on!

Checkin that out now. But, I don't know if I like the idea of buying it w/out trying it on first. I'll def. post up what I end up with.

If you see something on there you like, head to a local AD, ask for that model, try it on and see if they'll match the price.

Dude, great call! I have never heard of that company before. I like this one except for the huge play button built in. Not really sure what that is for...

the PAM 111 cost $5600 from the NYC Panerai Boutique, and the 171 I bought in 2007 for $7,700. I recently bought the rubber strap and deployment strap for my 171 for $900 . Now I have a rubber strap with the 111. But heres what the 171 looks like stock.

Anyone interested in buying an OEM Panerai rubber strap and clasp....=)

You're welcome! Oris is a solid watch company. The one you've posted uses the 7750 movement as well if I'm not mistaken.

The "huge play button" is actually a second crown that can be set to another time zone. Here's a link to the watch on Oris' website.

people dont "hate" on you simply because of what watch you have, rather your attitude about things in general- including posting this watch the way you just did.

Just curious, where is the best place to trade in watches? I'm looking to trade in some timepieces that I don't wear anymore...

Very nice LV sub man! That has to be the most popular watch I see at work... it almost seems like a right-of-passage thing... get above L1 analyst -> get a LV sub

BTW - What type of winder is that? I have 3 of the same cheap-o dual vertical dual winders and was looking for a new design that might be able to accomodate 6 or 8 at once horizontally.
