I just read back and saw what Vader Dave said, But I still am now considering picking up a Seiko 5 Sports and putting a rubber band on it..

I also found that a lot of people Mod their watches.. So maybe I will get crazy and put some stick on chrome port holes, a hood scoop, and some neons on my watch. Or stick with more "tasteful" mods..
I just happened to read it in a couple of magazines and online. I'm certainly no expert, although trends in fashion tend to swing from one extreme to another (see also: tie widths, loose/drapey clothes vs. slim fits, etc.).

just giving credit where credit is due. I have noticed that with some of my larger watches I am not able to wear certain shirts and sweaters, because it is too large to close the cuff or its gets caught. I do liek the seiko much more with the new band. have already recieved multiple compliments.

Excellent. I hope you enjoy it.

I have girly little wrists, so I can't really pull off any of the larger watches. Plus I wear dress shirts almost every day, so I need a watch that fits under the cuff.

Multi-vitamins. I put them there so I don't forget to take them while at work.

whether you guys believe it or not. I am always dressed in a dress shirt, slacks, and dress shoes everyday. I don't have very girly wrists. I am a pretty big guy. 6'2" 220 pounds.

Guys how lucrative is this whole modding thing in the Seiko world? I perform mainly maintenance but implementing some of these "mods" im seeing would be a piece of cake for me. I just never really payed too much attention to them aside from admiring their aesthetics. If its worth my time perhaps I can throw a few modded seiko divers out there and see whats up. I just dont know how active or lucrative the custom seiko world is. They don't seem to be getting much on ebay.

I was agreeing with you.

I've seen pictures of you before. We're about the same size (although I'm 30 lbs. lighter than you are).

You could throw your hat in the ring (go to some of the watch forums?) and see what people would be willing to pay. You can get a Seiko diver for about 200 bucks, so I can't imagine people would pay all that much for a custom face.

IIRC, brew had a custom Seiko that he had built up. Maybe PM him and ask him for ballpark prices.

Some of them get pretty crazy with things like bead blasting, ceramic coating, superluminova etc. Also some of the crystals alone (dual anti-reflective and tinted sapphire) are quite pricey. Guess ill have to check it out.

That would be cool. I have an SKX007 that's bone-stock. Maybe when you become the modding expert I'll have to send it over.

Okay I've been embedded since work and have decided to wait on the Hamilton. I have it narrowed down to my favorite being the nighthawk silver aviation citizens watch. Yet seiko also looks good what would be the equivalent to that for seiko would you say citizens is better?

The Citizen Nighthawk is unmistakeably badass. In fact I actually sold one last week. I love the rotating chapter via the second crown. It has a pretty distinct look with the concentric red and white half moon shaped minute markers, so I honestly can't think of an equivalent Seiko, at least looks-wise. I just saw a custom one on google with blue superluminova . For what you want to do with it, the Citizen sounds spot on. Only gripe is no auto, but thats a personal preference.

I'm going to ask - I know it's been ask before but I've gone through a lot of this thread and it's hard to keep track.

I'm looking to step out of the fossil world (where I have been very disappointed by watch quality sucking) and I want to get in something up to $500 or so.

I found this bulova

I would really prefer a lighter automatic watch though if it is possible to find something I like.

Is the bulova a good option in that price range?

I've really only looked hard at bulova and citizen - Most people don't post anything about prices in this thread so I hardly know what to look at. I was interested in the Hamilton Jazzmaster until I looked up the price - The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean is what I'd really like, but again - out of the budget for now.

I have a couple fossils that I wear as beaters - but I'd like this watch to mostly replaced them for anytime I go out. I'm not a huge dress up type of guy, so mostly casual wear (button down and dark jeans is as nice as I get the vast majority of the time - i'm hitting the bar, not the club).

Also - I'm a pretty big dude with large wrists....a 37mm watch is going to look itty bitty on me. One of the fossils I have is 44mm and it doesn't look big at all.
